A couple of times when passing through Gloucester Road I've noticed some old tiles on the station wall with a different station name. It looks like it says "Finsbury Park"? Did Gloucs Rd have a different name in the past, I have looked on the web but can't find any details.
Here is a picture I took at Gloucs Rd on my last visit.
I've noticed this a few times before, not that I actually go through Gloucester Road very often! I keep meaning to try and find out the answer to the same question, but have never got around to it/have forgotten each time.
Would be interested to hear the answer though if anyone could shed any light on this?
Also, dont know if you wants to know, but at Hyde Park Corner, in one of the tunnels between the platforms, there is a sign on the wall saying
TO FINSBURY PARK and to the left of that, TO HAMMERSMITH
This is the original entrance to the platforms from the stations lifts and these signs can still be seen from the trains and platform. I'll hopefully get a pic when I pass through next time I go to London.
Also, has anybody seen the two disused (or never used) lift shafts on the piccadilly line section at platform level? I looked up them once and they looked creepy! But it's still facinating if you're interested in such things.

Fantastic... seems like the mystery is solved already, thanks Barry

Caledonian Road also has "To Hammersmith" and "To Finsbury Park", as I use this station every weekend.
