MEMORISE THE TUBE MAP IN 3 HOURS!!!

I only found out the other day about this book from some guy called Romolo Russo (reminds me of that Greek singer from the 70's).

The official synopsis on Amazon says:

"Shows how to memorize the London tube map in 3 hours"

Yeah, thanks for that.

A more detailed synopsis follows:

"Have you ever wondered how fascinating it would be if you could memorize the London tube map? This book holds the key to unlocking the power of your mind and exploring a technique used by memory champions today. It will help you discover a secret which will make learning seemingly impossible tasks easy and fun to do.

You do not need to have a good memory just the ability to visualise bizarre stories which act as clues to remembering the stations. I have devised 14 carefully constructed short stories, one for each train line on the London Underground, each taking an average of 13 minutes to learn. You can even just memorise the city stations or a train line you regularly use - each story is independent, so commit to memory as little or as much of the map as you need.

After you complete the stories successfully you will then be shown how to remember the interchange stations such as Kings Cross. After this stage and with practice, you'll be able to travel anywhere on the London Underground without referring to a map!

And remember, it may stop you being late for that important interview. So what are you waiting for?
"

I'm off to order it (it's 4 to 6 weeks unfortunately). If you want a copy too, to see if it can actually be done, it's only £3.95 and the link to it on Amazon is:

What?!?! OH MY GOD!!!!!!

I don't need this book ... but maybe that's because I don't need to memorise all the Tube stations. But it would be cool. But I don't want to use a contrived story method to do so.

Dear Neil,

Discussion regarding the memorisation of the Tube map (hereinafter the "London Underground Passenger Orientation Device") infringes copyright regulations; at least, my client says so, and they're the ones giving me the money for sitting here surfing the Internet all day and generally being a miserable ****** to anyone who I can find.

Please take the entire Tubechallenge forum down by the end of Wednesday March 15th 2006, or TfL will be forced to find something useful to do with their money.

Sincerely,
Richard Head

What, such as remembering how to run an efficient transport network?

They'll be suing anyone who uses the tube next...

I presume the significance of the three hours must be that 3 hours is how long it takes TFL's thought police to catch up with people in possession of a tube map.

Anyone got any ideas for a joke map btw?

I think the whole "TfL are suing people" thing is wearing a bit thin now ...
