...Whilst travelling along a long section of Central Line today (Liverpool Street to Ealing Broadway if you wish to know...), a thought occurred in my mind.
Say you just did the Tube Challenge for a laugh or something and in all of that you just happened to set a new world record (unlikely I know, but things happen!) and you did all the stuff that Guinness World Records require you to have for the record but didn't actually apply to GWR before you did the run. Would you be able to apply to GWR to break the current record after you did the actual run providing you had all the required pieces of paper (not GWR forms etc, logbooks and that kind of stuff!) and pictures etc?

I think the only circustances under which you'd have collected all the evidence without an existing application would be if you'd forgotten to make one.
