Guinness Evidence Requirements

Post by snudge27 »

Having read on the "Threshold" thread about Guinness having upped the evidential requirements, what it required these days?

From what I remember, it used to be independent stopwatch, train log (with train numbers), hourly witness statements and photographs.

Are they now saying you're not allowed to do it alone?

I presume u relating to the fact that 2 records Jay Flynn and Sam Cawley both solo attempts havent been ratified before ours.We know that Sam actually didnt put her evidence in before ours and i believe after some prompting Jay did put his in whether he gets his reward he have to tell us.?

The evidence requirements are still the same we had video, photographic, witness statements roughly every hour, maps, train numbers,arrival/departures of every station i believe we also put in a oyster card log or something.?The more u get the quicker it gets ratified i think.

They weren't required back in 2004.

What's even more amazing is that on mine and Tangy's attempt in the Tube Olympics that enough people weren't only willing to give us their details, but some were willing to give us some money to charity (without us actually mentioning that we were doing it for Tearfund) and some were even willing to give us some food!!

If i remember rightly Sam will have the unusual problem wiv her claim number as it will now say the current record and wont change so it might be worth phoning them up Sam.

Also I think now the time has come to delete this Fantasy time of 17h 11m 05s its obvious it was a made up time because the previous record never changed from 17h 12m 43s to 17h 11m 05s despite having 1.5 months previous.

The only option is for the 2 individules involved to come forward on to the forum and prove yes we did it and say a photo of them at chesham and heathrow t5 but had no guinness claim number so couldnt put evidence in.

Andi,

I wrote on my covering letter that I was aware that my time had already been beaten, however due to circumstances beyond my control (which I explained) meant that I was unable to submit my evidence before yours etc etc and hope they will go off that!

(I really wish someone had checked with me before putting yours in :()

scrxisi wrote:All this just reminds me how amazing it is that 17h12 stood for so long unbeaten - and then Sam, Andi et al and Justin/Richard and co all beat it since December - and the Browns would have too if their T4-123 driver had not needed an emergency wee - were we all just lame for 18 months, unlucky, or something else?!

I remember thinking on the day when Andi and Steve K broke it that 17h12 would be untouchable - now I am contemplating a pop at 16h44. We must be close to Neil's threshold now...?

Neil has a threshold i thought that was 16h 28m  sat playing his mario wii.

That's ok, don't worry. Steve apologised at the time. Not that you guys really have anything to apologise for, you had every right to do so! It's just unfortunate the way things worked out :)

I'll give them until the end of next week and if I don't hear anything then I will contact them!

Also Jay Bouncingtigger if u still on forum reading exactly what date did u put ur evidence in or if u did?.As then me and sam can now at least giv u an estimate of if u get confirmation which now sorry is unlikely for u i still say get rid of 17h 11m 05s on wikipedia and on geoffs page they dont deserve to have their names on such on a prestigous record.
