Re: Are we reaching a threshold?
well to prove it i'm going to submit to guinness, and if anyone wants to come with me for my next run in november then let me know!
I understand there maybe a few sceptical people, i can live with that, so i'm more than happy for anyone to come along with me next time out, i'd prefer it!

Re: Are we reaching a threshold?
Just out of interest, as we're talking of thresholds in this thread, assuming absolute perfection (ie. everything in your plan running exactly to plan), what duration would you have achieved? Just wondering for the purposes of how close to the threshold we may/may not be!!

Re: Are we reaching a threshold?
in terms of the route i ran, it should have been 17h 5, but a lot of it was untried, i do have a quicker route, again alot of it is untried, but both routes depend on complete perfection, one missed connection and i could be down by half an hour instantly!

Re: Are we reaching a threshold?
Well done bouncingtigger! Talking about possible start and end points in view of thresholds, do many people consider Epping as a possibility? Looking at average journey times from possible finish points to the nearest junction:
14 minutes: Upminster - West Ham
17 minutes: Heathrow Central - Ealing Broadway
23 minutes: Amersham - Harrow-on-the-Hill
28 minutes: Epping - Stratford
Looking at the list it would seem that Amersham (or Chesham) and Epping would be the best places to start and end. Of course, this is quite a simple analysis, and gives no thought to the timetable. When I first started devising routes (I am not very good at it), I always seemed to end up in Canning Town. An unusual end point, but perhaps worth considering?

It's not quite that simple as if you start/finish at Epping you have to do a double back at some point to visit Snaresbrook/S Woodford.

Re: Are we reaching a threshold?
Yes, I agree, it is a simple analysis. However, it would be debatable as to whether or not it would be better to double back to pick up Snaresbrook and South Woodford, or double back from Epping to Woodford. Most routes starting in the North-West (or in fact, most routes generally) would require a double-back to cover Watford and Croxley.greatkingrat wrote:It's not quite that simple as if you start/finish at Epping you have to do a double back at some point to visit Snaresbrook/S Woodford.
I forgot about this! Thanks, yes, this would be another option. I seem to remember somebody using this in a previous challenge. I may have misremembered and it might have been the Heathrow Connect to Ealing Broadway though...nozzacook wrote:Don t forget the pricey but quick T5 - Paddington Heaathrow express 23mins.

Re: Are we reaching a threshold?
Not much debate: Woodford - Snaresbrook - Woodford is a shorter distance to cover than Woodford - Epping - Woodford and trains are more frequent on the former section too.mps247 wrote:Yes, I agree, it is a simple analysis.
