right now, piccadilly.
i know it's the one i use most often now, and if i lived on the northern line i would probably be saying different, but honestly, i don't think i've been heading back home on it yet and not stood for ages outside acton town. those signals obviously need sorting out.
it's also bloody annoying how they routinely throw you off at northfields and then you have to wait upto 15 minutes (like i did today) for a heathrow train, which explains why the trains into central london are always too crowded even that far down the line, there aren't enough of them. sometimes i struggle to get a seat from boston manor to central london off-peak.

Ditto, it's nice just riding the Circle Line when you've got a spare hour and not a lot to do. Plus it's only partially underground.Starkey7 wrote:I have to say that I don't mind the Circle line! I went all the way around it for a laugh once, and it took just under an hour. There weren't many hold-ups, it was light and airy and quite comfortable. It must be horribly difficult to keep it running to time though.
Most hated however... I don't really have an opinion on. I guess I could default and say maybe the Hammersmith and City line because I always have issues with that.
I have a fondness for the Victoria line though, despite it's down points.

I agree with Zeibura on Acton Town maybe being the worst station, as every Piccadilly I take gets stuck there and I have had to wait for hours for an Uxbridge / Rayners Lane train. But I still really like the Piccadilly in the end.
I'm one of the few people who never actually seems to have many problems with the Northern. Instead I seem to usually run into trouble on the District. It's also slow, not very comfortable and the trains don't look very nice. But I can't say I hate any line, I've had my problems everywhere around the system.

I was going to go for the obvious choice, and moan about the Northern, but everyone else has done that already.
So I thought I'd go for a line which is a very bumpy ride, often terminates trains before the destination, closes stations for refurbishment, takes ages to turn round at the tube challenging end (and departs late) and even goes through a siding half way through.....the Bakerloo.

Did them all this evening, and kept this question in the back of my mind... but it's still quite tricky as there are a number of worthy contendors - some for the delays, some for how packed they are, some for bad stations, and some for filthy, scratched, rattly trains, which look like they've been running since the year dot.
Going to need to think about this, but it's between Bakerloo and Central, as I think Metropolitan, District and Circle could be improved if they cleaned the trains - the H&C is a bit on the smelly side as well, and I don't like Victoria over long distance... Picadilly isn't up to much when you're crammed in like sardines, but that was probably my fault for the timing...
Going to go with central, as it's busy, unreliable, boring and smells bad.

I've been thinking about the topic and have realised that there are things about each line I hate. Here are the things I hate about each line....
Bakerloo > Cant hear the train announcements
Central > The platforms at Bank
Circle > It's just so unreliable and slow
District > The unrefurbished trains and the long periods of waiting at Earls Court
East London > Havnt been on it but I'd say the trains could be given the old heave-ho!
Hammersmith & City > uncomfortable seats (and so on the Circle)
Jubilee > Bad smell comming from the carriages which always make me ill.
Metropolitan > Trains are too old
Northern > The wait on the platform
Piccadilly > Crowded trains - especially to Heathrow
Victoria > Cant hear the announcements
Waterloo & City > Dont know!
On the other hand, here's what I like about each line THAT I'VE BEEN ON
Bakerloo > Reliable
Central > Fast journeys in the central area
District > The refurbished trains
Jubilee > The accelerating and decelerating sounds
Northern > The automated announcer
Piccadilly > Comfy seats
Victoria > Super fast rides! They should rename that the Rollercoaster Line!

Particularly on the southern section going north, I've often had that thought as well... but it's not too nice when you're standing - or facing backwards. If it was a rollercoaster, it would undoubtedly be Vekoma!garion24wales wrote:Victoria > Super fast rides! They should rename that the Rollercoaster Line!
And not convinced that Jubilee is the worst smelling... maybe in rush hour, but that's just commuter armpits, and the noises and 'Stanmore' type announcements make up for it

it smells like diarrhoea.
the central line has awful service out at the ends when there's the slightest delay, i remember waiting 19 minutes for a train at northolt at like 9.30am because of a signal failure at leytonstone... and also the east end (between leytonstone and bank) gets ridiculously crowded at peak times.
also the met and district are about as bad as the circle... you just don't notice it so much on the met because the journeys are pretty simple.

Besides, the H&C smells like animal houses at the zoo... no idea what caused that, but it wasn't me
The DLR goes to Lewisham. The question is, why?

Ha
The Jubilee's announcements are by far the best - they sound excited about the destination 'Stttteeerrratford' or 'Staaannmoore!!', without the excess that Victoria woman goes into - like the raptures over the royal institute of the blind!
Anyway, I did a little more tubing tonight, and, while I didn't enjoy the central, at would try to avoid travelling on it by choice - it wasn't too bad. Not half as bad as Bakerloo, for instance, and many of the 'minority lines' are less fun still - though cooler and quieter. Perhaps my vote went the wrong way, and I caught central on a bad night. But it still isn't the most enjoyable experience.
