Cryptic Clues Quiz II

Post by tangy »

As promised, the second instalment, but this slightly more tricky as these stations could be on the London Underground, DLR, Croydon Tram or National Rail networks. However all the stations can be found on a London Connections Map should you need it to guide you along!

Feel free to answer, the answers will be revealed in a few days time in a separate post, to make it fairer to those who don't check the forums regulary.

1. Farm buildings occupy this station.
2. The termination point of 1,760 yards.
3. Thomas the Tank Engine character sometimes got stuck trying to get up this incline!
4. You will need these two pieces of equipment in order to play cricket.
5. You are bound to fall down this dyke!
6. White Hart Lane pelted with icestones.
7. On race days you would see horses run round this station.
8. James Bond's gadget man in ornamental public grounds.
9. Electric current can be measured from this station.
0. You have gained unauthorized access to this river crossing.

Now let's see how long this quiz will last.....

This is a Central line train to "Woodford via Hainault"- sadly, not no more!

2. A mile is actually 1760 yards so I am not sure if Mile End is the intended answer or not.
3. Gordon Hill
6. Tottenham Hale
7. Tattenham Corner

You can see I was brought up in metric measurements can't you! Don't even know how many yards are in a mile......either that or I didn't do my research properly!

After looking it up, there are indeed 1,760 yards in a mile! Oops!

Looks like we've got all the answers except 0, and I don't know that one. I did know many of the others, but there's no point in posting them again.

I think this should be run with entrants PMing you their answers, then you can set a deadline and whoever has the most correct by that deadline will be declared the winner. Would keep it more interesting for the people who can't ALWAYS be on the forum!

I assume "0" refers to a "bridge" but I can't see any that match the other part of the clue.
