Once again, you seem to have forgotten who started the very first counting thread, now sadly deleted, which made it to the number 2.

I hadn't forgotten! Post amended to give you a credit. And thanks for helping me fiddle my way to the 1000th post :)

It'll be interesting to see how the game develops from here on. No more bus routes, and I don't think there'll be too many more models of car, aircraft or other commercial product names. No more dialling codes (at least until 1200, when the last four digits can be used). Fewer significant A-roads, although the numbers are still good until the 1200s, when they start to fizzle out (to return at 2000). Not so many numbers with interesting mathematical properties - at least they're harder to track down. On the other hand, probably more historically significant dates.

This is uncharted territory!

So this is the equivalent of asking a 5-year-old to count to 100?

Well there's a surprise! But are there any British bus routes with four digits?

I guess when we hit 1066 we'll start getting more historical British information in the thread.

I can't think of anything particularly important that happened in British history in 1066.

There was no British history in 1066.

Oh, and we may get a few medium-wave radio stations mentioned now.

I've already mentioned a few. See 693, 774 and 792.

So we have. Silly me. That's two 'blunders' I've made on the Forum in the last hour. It's January fatigue...

Café 1040:

Funnily enough, after posting 1039, I realised that, had I waited for 1040, I could've posted something along the same lines. The '1040 Window' is an area between these latitudes on the planet, containing those parts of the world that are least evangelized. Very surprised that any other contributors came up with it though!

Which, interestingly enough, runs straight into the A1049. Why do they have two different numbers?
I think it's because the A1048 was shortened. Originally it started in the centre of what was then called West Hartlepool and headed north along Clarence and Lancaster Roads. This section is now unclassified as it has been bypassed by the A689/A179 Marina Way.

Aren't I knowledgeable? :D
