Games that go on and on and on and on and on and on and and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on (and on)
I wanted to post that because it's the town where I was born, but it's not valid. The rules in the first post include:

Oops! Didn't spot that one. I think that's the second time I've done it in this thread.
Don't think so - I'm sure I'd have noticed if it had happened before! I put that rule in to stop things like Oxford followed by Oxfordshire. Although I realized recently that if anyone ever posts a two-letter place name (and there are a few), it will be logically impossible to continue...

I've tidied up the rules a bit. Most of this is just clarification of the existing rules but there are a few minor changes, highlighted in bold. Hope this is OK.
(1) Each player must post the name of a geographical location (country, province, city/town/village, mountain etc.) beginning with AT LEAST TWO consecutive letters occurring at the end of the previous location. For example, Kingston can be followed by Ontario, Tonga or Stony Stratford, but not by Norway (single letter) or by Torquay ("to" doesn't occur at the end of "Kingston").
(2) A player may NOT include the whole of the previous location in the new one (e.g. Oxford followed by Oxfordshire). However, the whole of the new location may be included in the previous one (e.g. Manchester followed by Chester).
(3) All locations must be at least three letters long. (This is to prevent the game from becoming impossible.)
(4) If the location has a different name in English from the native version, either may be used. So for example either "Florence" (English) or "Firenze" (Italian) would be acceptable.
(5) If the name is incorrectly spelt, it will be accepted if the correct spelling would be a valid play, but not otherwise. The next player should continue as though the correctly spelt version was played.
(6) The same name may not be played in two consecutive posts (e.g. Amsterdam followed by Amsterdam). It is permitted to repeat names that have been played earlier in the game but this should be done sparingly.
(7) A player may not post two consecutive locations within 24 hours. If there is no response to a post in 24 hours, then the same player can post again, provided it is within a further 24 hours. After 48 hours the game is considered dead and any player may restart with a fresh location.

Pilsen. Of course that opens up a whole new can of worms because it's actually a German name, and the name in Czech is Plzeň... but fortunately there's a community called Pilsen on the Lower West Side of Chicago, so I'll sidestep the issue by having that one
