Quite suddenly I've got myself a new job, which is going to involve me spending two weeks commuting between Streatham and Bedford for training.
I've had a look, and it seems that with a YP railcard I can get a daily return for about £30. Seeing as I'm going to be making the trip ten times, do any of you know if there's a cheaper way of doing this? Weekly ticket? A combination of Oyster/Travelcard out to Zone 6, and then a National Rail ticket?
Any help would be most gratefully received!

Nothing to do with the railway, this new job?

Nope! It's a despatch role with the East of England Ambulance Service. I used to do exactly the same thing for the Police, so had a turnaround time this afternoon of two hours between applying and getting the job!!tubeguru wrote:Nothing to do with the railway, this new job?
Matt, is that with or without YP discount?

Awwh poop! And I assume that would be equally valid whether I get a direct FCC service, or have to change at St. Pancreas onto an EMT service?scrxisi wrote:You can't get YP discount on season tickets

If you wanted tube travel as well, you could always get a zones one-six weekly for £53.40 and then a weekly from Elstree and Borehamwood for £69.40, so £122.80. An extra £17.80 for unlimited tubes, buses, trams, DLR for the week

Or you could just buy a weekly travelcard from Bedford for 122.40 - no need for two tickets.

Ah yes, why didn't I think of that, I always get stuck in the "split tickets will be cheaper" loop!
