Yes, but they chose that station. They could have gone down to a station past Worting Junction if they'd wanted only two lines.

You know trainspotters? Does one's book of numbers and album of pictures get reset every so often? There was loads when the line first opened, then none - now loads again.

Or is that the effect of summer? I don't really know how it works.

How do you mean, "reset"?

They spot trains and log numbers, right? By reset I mean, do they ever say "right I want to go and spot all 319s again" and go out and do so?

I would imagine there MIGHT be some people who do that, but the sheer number of trains and locos available to see is quite large.

I think the spotting scene has divided into two branches nowadays - freight spotting and photography. With freight, spotters will take the numbers of individual wagons, as most stuff is hauled by 66s these days. Having said that, I did pass the Bridgwater nuclear flask train the other day, behind a pair of class 20s.

Oh, and then there's haulage - trying to get a ride on every unit, or behind as many locos as they can.

Back in the 70s and 80s, haulage was mainly confined to locomotives, as they were the principle means of traction. But now it's units.
