New Met Timetable

Post by barrykas »

Afternoon all,

Whilst most of the discussion of the upcoming timetable change has focused on the Olympia shuttle, there's a rather dramatic recast of the Met timetable taking place as well, which I only found out about yesterday.

This primarily affects off-peak services, as follows:
  • Amersham and Chesham trains to call ALL STATIONS from Wembley Park Northwards and extended to/from Aldgate. Aldgate - Amersham Journey time: 1 hour 10 minutes; Aldgate - Chesham: 1 hour 17 minutes.
  • Watford and Uxbridge trains cut back to start from/terminate at Baker Street, and frequencies reduced from 6tph to 4tph.
  • Chiltern Off-Peak services remain at 2tph calling Harrow, Rickmansworth, then all stations.
As mentioned, this primarily affects services between 9am and 4pm. There may be alterations in the peaks, but I haven't checked the timetables yet.

Cheers,

Barry

Uxbridge is actually increasing to 8tph off-peak. The full off-peak pattern (all stopping at all stations) is

4tph Uxbridge - Aldgate
4tph Uxbridge - Baker Street
4tph Watford - Baker Street
2tph Amersham - Aldgate
2tph Chesham - Aldgate

Mea culpa. Was at a meeting on an unrelated matter yesterday and one of our colleagues from LU mentioned the shakeup, suggesting both the Uxbridge and Watford services were being cut back in the off-peak to make up for the slower Amersham and Chesham service. Should've realised that was odd, given the Uxbridges don't interact with the others West of Harrow.

One other thing I've just spotted is that the first two "through" trains from Wembley Park to Amersham/Chesham have been cut back to start from Harrow...

Cheers,

Barry

It is pretty good to start in the northwest corner of the map.
One problem though, Olympia!

Agree that unless you are going to risk one of the evening Olympia trains then we should be more concerned with Met service at the end of the day.

Has there been much change there to help or hinder?

My personal view on this is that with a number of timetable changes comming into effect, old routes cannot just be retimed and new ideas are the order of the day....!

My planned route (which I still need to improve!) Gets Olympia done early and involves long waits at the end of the day on the north west Met.

Absolutely - I'm sure thinking out of the box will pay dividends. [I should say that I've not yet looked at any of the new timetable information, just as a general rule for life (and please excuse all my cliches tonight).]

What about the ever-so-organised Moor Park station?

Usually platform 1 is for services to Amersham (and latterly, Chesham).
Platform 2 is for fast services south.
Platform 3 is for services to Watford.
Platform 4 is for slow services south.

Capiche?

And seeing that this is where the park challenge starts this year this is extremely important for those (yes, all one of you) that are confirmed attendees.
