Andi, this feels like you're calling them out! It's pretty intimidating.

Re: new members attempt
I was going to say the same thing. Becoming a forum member does not oblige anyone to tell us everything about their record attempt.

Re: new members attempt
Posts don't normally get me quite so upset, but I'm afraid that this has. Any board member should be free to post as little or as much as he likes, when he likes. It's hardly that it's a requirement of Guinness that record breaking times, let alone all times, must without question be posted here. Crikey, someone that non of us know may even break the record, heaven forbid!
Behaviour appearing to "force" people into posting may dissuade people from joining our community and therefore must be discouraged at all times.

Despite this, it really would be an interesting read if the record attempter would like to tell us about their attempt!

Re: new members attempt
Before we go any further, I'd liked to say that my post was not intended as bullying in any way, shape or form. If Andi considers it as such I shall send him my fullest appolagies and remove the offending post. I also agree that Andi's a great ambassador for us as a society and he's a friend of mine too after he's offered to help me when I undertake my first GWR attmept - which is something I intend to still fulfil when that day comes in the (hopefully) not too distant future.
But I do still stand by what I said. I also think, from the post itself and my first hand expierence of Andi's personality, that he meant what he wrote in the kindest possible way and is simply eager to learn more. This eagerness has perhaps come across a bit too strongly for my liking as it appears almost as if he's demanding the member in question to post his time. My post was purely to point out that I too thought it sounded like an off putting demand, and I did not want the member in question to think this. I did not, and do not, wish the post to sound like slander of Andi himself.

Re: new members attempt
Are you trying to tell me that my earlier post could be construed as me "having a go" at Andi? I think my response was rather tame compared to what followed ...scrxisi wrote:If Andi has crossed a line here, then a moderator or admin who doesn't remove a post and/or have a chat privately but rather publically has a go isn't really demonstrating how it should be done too well himself is he? Hostility of that nature from all of us is way more likely to put off newcomers than a post from Andi that could quite simply be his way of trying to encourage new posters to get involved.

Re: new members attempt
In the original wording of the post i said Perhaps which indicates Whether Neil wishes to post or not.? If he did it might be a nice way of him introducing himself to us all that was my intention.
I feel a dinstinct like of feeling here as i have often offered help to newcomers on the forum be it by rules or not!.
My intention is to help newcomers enter the forum whether they like to post or just to read the various posts people that know me personally know that i never intend to hurt their feelings.
In a matter of fact Neil was asking me advice on facebook and i have kept in contact wiv him via that.Whether Neil wants to post his expeirance of his attempt is his business but it would be a good icebreaker me thinks.
Anybody wish to discuss my attitude or lack of respect as they see it please pm me but i hope i have cleared up my position.

Just to confuse matters further, does the new member have the same name as me?

We could bend one at the legs to differenciate between them, then one of them would be Kneel.palkanetoijala31 wrote:Yep now we have 2 Neils on the forumtubeguru wrote:Just to confuse matters further, does the new member have the same name as me?
I'll get my coat...

Or, we could subject one of them to great heat, and then cool them slowly, then call them Anneal. (Look it up!)
