It is difficult to know which to vote for when I have no idea how long each of the routes takes.

I would suggest posting below the timings you have done for each (i.e. Amersham to Heathrow T4 takes a projected 17 hours 10 minutes).

IMO Chesham is the optimum starting station. Better than the traditional Amersham at least.

I can quote that i can produce a route within the opening hours 05.00-01.00am next day 20 hours max some obviously faster than others for example. My best projected time is t4-amersham but this involves andi style running pace and im not going to give any projected time away for that :P.

With any amersham finish ur looking at a 30 mins service at end so taking that into count most come in 17h 40m for a big group to get round with the possibility of -30 or +30 obviously the advantages of any other finish is more frequency.

Ah ok, so this is not a simultaneous charity and GWR attempt.

If we are just trying to get around all the stations I see no reason not to try something different as Andi has suggested above.

The biggest group as u well know hold the 4 fastest time ever i personally would love to do a chesham start amersham finish for example.

Ok a very detailed post there Mr Scrxisi i will try and answer some of your questions.
First of all there has been no meeting to discuss routes, strategies or theme so maybe we can arrange 1 wiv lots of beer :) in future.

1. A big group also there is no reason why we have to do this or have a race between teams as u say nothing has been decided.

2. Nobody put me in charge of this i have done many route in my own time for above poll and would appreciate input from all people involved as u say it is a minor concern the criteria to be sent any possible route i have ie. t4-amersham is u need to be alive and i like you.

Also i was thinking more of people accommodation options for example for a t5 finish though perhaps people can park their cars at soupies work for an t4 start i leave my car in amersahm for example for people whom need to get back towards heathrow.

3. i Leave that up to other people i doing my own sponsorship and getting some media coverage perhaps.

4. Gwr or not personally i always like kevin go for the record enough said if i get sponsored to do it then the more the better.

5. yes a meeting personally i think saturdays work well wiv beer so perhaps a ne wpost could be arranged.

There's loads of time left yet, so we don't need to decide anything yet anyway!!

Well for my tuppence worth I like the big group scenario for Red Nose / Fancy dress day and Sports relief and for CiN I like the idea of teams racing each other......... It was rather splendid to see the jostling for the optimum door position at North Harrow last year and heading off in different directions :P

I might bring my cousin along in November. She seems to be interested with the idea.

If you were to have teams 'racing' then my suggestion would be to have three teams (as you have a decent number for each team based on GUs list) with differing objectives:

Team 1 would be going for the record the most seriously (and would probably have the fastest runners)
Team 2 would also go for the record but be slower paced
Team 3 would be most focused on just finishing

With regards starting/finishing locations, for the 'race' scenario to be most effective they would have to be the same for all teams, which would have the added benefit of having everyone together for the first part of the day. Team 3 may prefer to do their own 'weird' start/finish combo however, that would need to be discussed. (Maybe finish at White City to be near Television Centre?)

I know November seems a long way off, but it isn't really so I think discussion at this stage is merited - especially if in person planning (drinking) meeting(s) are going to be arranged between now and then.

BTW, you may have guessed that I am also interested in taking part this year :)

I think we need to make a decision on this quickly as I will need the time to devise a route having always liked the idea of the race between teams thinking back to last year two teams ended up on the same southbound Piccadilly.

GWR makes fundraising easier & helps keep you motivated where as just getting round is fine if you haven't done it before but having done so on several occasions this idea seems pointless.
