Tube Olympics - Full Network Attempt - 24th July

Post by Soup Dragon »

Just three weeks to go until the "Gold Ribbon" event of the inaugaral Tube Olympics. Hopefully all the teams have their planned routes in place ready for the big day. If there are any solo competitors wanting to find a team to join please let me know and we can try and put people together. You don't have to start at Amersham, but assuming all teams do then we will have to coordinate to make sure everyone can make the start and perhaps organise one stopwatch starter (or witness) for all teams. If you are planning to attempt a GWR on the day and haven't already registered with Guinness I would suggest you do this now. So far I believe there will be at least two teams (Brown/Starkey and Mr Finland/Joy 54/Scrixsi). Any questions regarding the day feel free to PM me or post here.
One day I shall return!

I see we have jumped straight from the first event to the last event then.......

What happened to the Bottle, Z1, R15 & DLR.......

While we are on this topic if anyone who is not competing is able to come and support the poor old chap in the Brown/Starkey team or do a food drop that would be appreciated....
Please PM me if you can help...... :)

Indeed that's true, however, planning the Full Network and booking the day off work will take a little more effort than the other challenges. Besides which it gives solo competitors time to get together and form teams that will challenge the mighty Mr Finland & Co. and Brown/Starkey. Let the games begin! :)

I suggest the famous Brown/starkey team split up in to 2 teams and do different routes to double ur chances or is that not an idea.

I might be able to help at some point, probably in the morning, unless my other plans go totally pear shaped which means I might go for the whole network myself.

6 days and counting until the "Gold Ribbon" event, the standard will have to be extremely high to match last nights Zone 1. As far as I know so far we have 3 possible teams:

List of teams and competitors
Team 1: Andi James, Matt Scrivin & Steven Karahan
Team 2: Antony, Jamie, Kevin & Phil Brown, John Stark & Ann Howell (Possibly Ryan Brown)
Team 3: possibly...... Ollie Lewisohn & Alistair Brown

I want to break up team 2, but my fellow team members are against it (they might kick me out the team now... :) ) So we are still looking for more people to enter and more teams.

I'm sure Mr Tubeguru is itching to do the full network again???
What about jamesthegill, Zeiburu, editorsfoot...etc... come on guys, your next chance for Olympic glory will be 2012!

Apart from Phil (editorsfoot) offer, I'm not aware of any support during the day.

As some are aware, I cannot come to defend my recent GWR due to too many staff off next week but that doesn't stop me doing my usual supoort role/stopwatch finisher from 1700.

So if you need support/food/stopwatch finisher please speak up and I will see what I can do for you.

Weather forecast for Thursday, 27c/81f, sunny, high pressure. Make sure that you all bring enough drinks as I think we're going to need plenty of fluid.
