hwolge wrote:Yes, I think you are a bit pedantic... However, the timing aspect is indeed intriguing. I think the book is detailed enough to reconstruct most of the time line - one day I'll go back and work it out properly, to see if it adds up. I will ignore the detail that he actually misses Chiswick Park as well as MC.

As for no planning - I couldn't agree more. Andy's ignorance of the Upminster - Fenchurch Street trains as well as some other train connection also seems terribly implausible - but what do a Swede like myself know?

BTW How can you possibly get lost between Kenton and Northwick Park? Especially if you have lived there...

Still a good read though.
Just out of sheer interest, I put the route through JP a few months back (without all the delays) and I think it fell short around Richmond or something like that - so not too bad a route if the author has done this off the top of his head.

That was the point where I started to lose the book a little bit, whether I have too much knowledge of London I don't know but the bridge they make reference too by Kenton rec is this one (or the photos were taken from it), and you can just about make out Kenton station and the way there.

Back on topic briefly... I was chatting with Soup Dragon last night and he likes the idea of an Alphabet Drinking Challenge but kept within Z1.....

So no; 'D', 'I' or 'U' but that still leaves us with 19 pubs to visit if my maths is correct :D

I don't suppose one is allowed to drink mineral water instead? I'm not sure that my liver could take more than a pint or two.

Well Dr Who expressed an interest and he is not of drinking age....
I suppose we could allow you the odd half a shandy then

On second thoughts it should really be an Alphabet Drinking Challenge within the 'Bottle' that would be more appropriate! :)

Gotta love those last 2 posts

So hopefully TUI is within the law.... (Tubechallenging under influence) :P

And all the same letters fall within the bottle (so in all probability after 19 pubs we will be falling within the bottle as well  )

Sounds like you're going to need a support team.

Support being the operative word
I though by reducing it to the "Bottle" it might save a couple of letters, but it looks like you're correct Kev, there are still 19 to do!
