One Hit Wonders

Post by Soup Dragon »

Im looking for suggestions of "One Hit Wonders" to include on my website.
Next week I start a knockout cup to try and find out who is the most popular artist to have had just one hit. Chesney Hawkes starts as hot favourite closely followed by The Flying Lizards and Dead or Alive. Please post your suggestions here or directly on my site.
Cheers Soupie

Here is one especially for Mr Tubeguru; Pink Floyd, The Wall..... :D

No doubt he can now correct this post with a full list of their single releases, dates and position reached in the charts

I would do, but it's too much trouble to find all the info and type it out.

Indeed, you probably also realised the post was somewhat tongue in cheek... It is probably the only Floyd track that a vast majority of the uneducated could name.......

Anyway, I've gone right off that album.

I'm more into the stuff between 1968 and 1973 myself, before Dark Side propelled them to superstardom and mediocrity (performance-wise I mean).

Chesney is clearly the answer to any problem of 'greatest ever one hit wonder'

Is it true he's sold the rights to The One And Only and now has to mime when he performs?

Well we shall see how Mr Hawkes does when the competition starts next week.

Somebody suggested to me Star Trekin' by the firm, but wasnt that dome by the same people who did the Chicken Song? (Spitting Image team)???

I think Tight fit had a second hit 'fantasy island', but then again Men at work had a second single, not sure if it charted though.

Men at Work had 4 top 40 hits:
Down Under #1
Overkill #21
Its a Mistakle #33
Dr Jekyll & Mr Jive #31

So sadly they won't be included :(

Now either you're Dr Pop or you've been on everyhit.com

What about Men Without Hats and the Safety Dance or Lieutenant Pigeon?

I though Tight Fit only had one hit...
but you are correct, Fantasy Island reached #5 in May 1982,
Can't say I honestly remember this song?
so unfortunately there will be no place for Tight fit either.
