Nice-looking station! Where is it?

Can you identify a station from just a paving slab? Sadly, some people can

Ooh - that's a very nice station!

So nice in fact that at very first glance I thought it might be on a heritage railway, but the only double track heritage railway is the Great Central, and it's not one of theirs. Also the tactile paving and yellow line say it's somehere on the main line network.

Clearly not on either the 3rd rail or 25kV networks, and probably not in Wales.

Other than that, I don't have a clue!

Yes, very nice. And all my nice-looking stations are NR ones, so no heritage stations apply.

And yes, you’re right to eliminate 3rd rail, 25kV and Wales for Station Lumzdelis. So that’s probably eliminated around half the stations (not sure of the percentage). Shouldn’t take you too long to look through the other half…

Station Lumzdelis - Hint (finally)

Post by RobbieM »

tubeguru wrote: 19 Jan 2026, 16:48So where is it?
Ooh, that’s a good question! It’s so long ago I’m not sure I can remember! :D

My apologies. I’ve been a little indisposed and preoccupied for the past 6 months. But now, following obtaining two brand new JRI uncemented, ceramic-bearing, titanium hip implants (both replaced in the same 3-hour operation), I’m trying to get back to some sort of normal life! Not that that’s likely to involve any running around the Tube right now…

I’ll make sure I answer this soon - meanwhile, here’s a hint:

If the hint to Station Itótele was “computer”, the hint to Lumzdelis is “pencil”.

Station Lumzdelis - Answered at last!

Post by RobbieM »

Well, six months, one day and two new hips later, I’m finally gonna answer this one for y’all.

So the hint was ‘Pencil’. And if you followed my previous pattern where ‘Computer’ gave you ‘PC’ (for Paisley Canal), and ‘Toilet’ gave you WC (for Wrexham Central), ‘Pencil’ will give you HB. It’s time to ‘draw’ this one to a close….

These initials will point you to Station Lumzdelis, which is Hebden Bridge. A very nice-looking station.

Well done to trains500, Lunaticonthegrass, and DavidC for getting this right.

So, are you primed and ready for Station Marktsackpfeife? I’ll try and set it soon.

Just for that, I may delay it even further… …to the start of Autumn.

I’m still debating on the most appropriate century.

Station Marktsackpfeife

Post by RobbieM »

Here you go then, friends. Station Marktsackpfeife. Another nice-looking station, from the outside, anyway. (And the inside, from what I remember.)

Oh, by the way, the instrument known as "Marktsackpfeife" is a modern German interpretation of bagpipes to be played at markets etc. In case you’re interested.

PM Answers to me as usual, and I may respond in the next six months or so. :D (Just kidding, though I’m actually away for the next two or three weeks, so you may not get an immediate answer….)

Station Marktsackpfeife - closing soon

Post by RobbieM »

So I’ll try and remember to answer this in the next couple of days. That’ll be a record for me.

Too easy for a hint.

Last chance for entries. :D

Station Marktsackpfeife - Answered

Post by RobbieM »

Okay, Station Marktsackpfeife is closed. Or at least this round of the competition is.

And well done to tubeguru, RJSRdg, DavidC and trains500 for identifying it as Saltburn. Easy, wasn't it?

Station Naqareh coming soon. I think it should also be easy, even if it doesn't look it at first glance… :?
