Tube Olympics 2024: Event 2 - Full Network

Post by tangy »

Due to engineering works, this year we are doing the marathon before the sprint as event 2 of Tube Olympics 2026 is the Full Network on Friday 13th February 2026.

This involves visiting ALL 272 London Underground stations in the fastest time (which for a completion will take circa 17 hours) so requires a full day, a good dose of stamina and a bit of luck.

You may start at any station you wish, the challenge will be conducted using standard Tube Challenge rules. Due to the length of this event, there will no end meeting point, medals and results will be held until the closing ceremony.

Please note, unless you are doing this for GWR purposes (or wish to do so yourself), I will not require full video recording of the challenge. Normal evidence as per any of the alternative challenges will be sufficient for validating your time.

Entries for this event are now open.

Reason: Of course there are 272 stations now!

This is a Central line train to "Woodford via Hainault"- sadly, not no more!

In practice, Tangy tends to work on trust and you only need to give him the route and time (so he can check all stations have been visited). I didn't need to send him photos when he added my FNC time to the list (or any other times for that matter), and I can't see him sitting down and working through 272 photos from each competitor!

Remember that in the normal run of TO, medals for the FNC would be awarded after the following day's R15, which would mean in practice onlky about 12 hours to get photos to him and for him to check them before the R15 starts.

I made a huge mistake at Elmers End - had 2 mins to get a 356 to Birkbeck when tram arrived - left station but couldn't see bus stop so thought I would pop back in to see what time my Tram was leaving and it had gone back already ! - So turned around in under 2 mins, when I saw you Tangy had just run past me and that was the 2nd time I had left the station
Should have just stayed on tram, cost me at least 1 train to finish, if not 2....
