Either tube to Hammersmith, a quick dash for one of many buses to Kensington Olympia, then direct train to H+W, or train from Olympia to Willesden Junction + train/tube (whichever turns up first) to H+W (direct trains are only hourly, it seems - 12 past t'hour, arriving at 29 past).

Or a bus to Feltham, then it's 3 stops to Clapham Junction (on the 'fast' trains from Reading, anyway), then either a direct train to H+W or two trains/train+Bakerloo to H+W via Willesden Junction.

Or a bus to Feltham, then change at Richmond, train to WJ, then train/tube to H+W.

Or tube from Hatton Cross to Acton Town, walk to South Acton (0.6 miles, which I personally consider to be a 12 minute walk), then to WJ and onto H+W from there.

"David, it's over to you."
Cheers Pete. Decisions, decisions on the options now :?

Query about the Snake:

This has probably been said before, but there are two different 129 routes available. One involves Angel and Old Street, the other Farringon and Barbican...

Yes, a very small discrepancy, but that still means there is no one definitive route!

It seems that with T4 reopening there are also another 17 routes ending at Heathrow and all starting from Epping...(see earlier post from Hakan and also the original desktop challenge thread... Talk about put a fly in the ointment :?

Well, perhaps the challenge can be to see who can set the quickest time to visit 129 stations without repetition or leaving the tube network, but which route you take is up to you.

Sounds goods to me, given your earlier scenario I will probably opt for Old Street and Angel rather than Barbican and Faringdon as is 2 less changes... :D

Anyway for the purposes of the exercise next week I suggest that we all do the original 129, which is now very much heading for 1100hrs meet at Harrow & W...

Yes I am happy with that I might start another thread just so it is clear to everyone.... :D

This will detail the exact plans for the day, looks like it is going to be a fairly good turn out... :)

Shame that it appears this 129 route is now not unique though with the other 17 possibilities from Epping - Heathrow.. :(

Look forward to catching up with you again on the day..... :D

Pasties for lunch I hope

For those interested in just the Zone 1 is it safe to say we should PM our phone numbers [can't remember who to] to get buzzed on an update as what time that might kick off? :)

Yeah you can trust me honest

As I am the organiser just PM the details... Do you have far to travel to get to Barbican... :?: I can probably call when we all finish at Epping and then I am guessing time we have grabbed something to eat and drink will take about an hour to get to Barbican for start of Z1....

I would say that the last of us doing the 129 will be away by about 1130hrs and as no one has ever tried this before we are guessing around 6-7 hours... So perhaps the Z1 will be starting around 7ish....

My nearest station is Tottenham Court Rd so I live pretty central for a Zone 1 :D getting to Barbican isn't a problem and neither is a late start thankfully. I shall PM over my details at some point since you are in the know.

Wow, you live in Tottenham Court Road?! Lucky you...

I'd guess that the Snake would only take about six hours, allowing for a three minute wait and a one minute walk at each of the changing stations. But 7pm sounds nice and safe and will allow us to get some dinner/lunch from somewhere or other. A mass start for a Zone 1 thing is always more fun anyway, because you see everybody dashing off at the usual places (like Aldgate East).

Hi everyone, glad to see there's no loss of enthusiasm for tube-runnning here!

I've been away for a while and won't be on the forums so much over the next weeks I expect sadly.

I would be interested in an evening Z1, but can't make 1st Sept or 31st August. Please email me if plans change away from those dates, but otherwise have a good time and don't get round too quickly :)

Shame you can't make it Ric, but I think your record time is safe considering the time we are starting

Never mind the time we're starting at, I have a Very Good Plan for getting the record...

Ric, I'm up for doing another Zone 1 thing from Vauxhall next week if you're free; let me know if you are up for it!
