What news of Zone 1, Mr Organisers?

I would say stick with the original format.

Setting a finishing station also runs the risk that the station will become inaccessible for various reasons during the course of the event meaning that no-one would be able to complete the challenge which would ofc be a bit of an anti-climax. As an example, if Warren Street had been picked for this last year.

Presumably stations used in previous years for the start (if memory serves: Sloane Square, Vauxhall, and St James Park) will be ruled out as potential starting points this year along with Regents Park (assuming its still closed)

That's a very good point I hadn't thought of - although you'd have the same problem with a starting station, we could always redraw if we had to, whereas we would have been stuffed with that happening near the end.

Yes, those four stations will not be potential start stations for this year. There's a set of rules on the launch post making it clear which stations are/aren't possibilities.

I tried the Zone 1 challenge yesterday evening as I had 3 hours to kill in London and I wanted to see how I could do. I found myself at Westminster station at 7pm and made up the route on the spot with no access to timetables etc.

It was

Jubilee to London Bridge
Northern to Elephant & Castle
Bakerloo to Paddington
Walk to Paddington (H&C)
H&C to King's Cross
Northern to Moorgate
Circle to Aldgate
Walk to Aldgate East
District to Cannon Street
Walk to Bank
Northern to Moorgate
Metropolitan to Euston Square
Walk to Euston
Northern to Goodge Street

at this point 1h57m had elapsed so I almost certainly wouldn't have broken 3 hours. At that point came the dreaded announcement - because of a fire alert at Leicester Square this train will remain in the station. And it did, and did, so I gave up.

The rest of the route would have been
Northern to Tottenham Court Rd
Central to Queensway
Walk to Bayswater
District to Earl's Court
Piccadilly to Russell Sq
Piccadilly to Holborn
Central to St Pauls
Walk to Mansion House
District/Circle to Sloane Sq
District/Circle to Victoria
Victoria to Vauxhall

Probably too many changes and an interminable wait at London Bridge didn't help as did being dressed in clothing not suitable for anything other than a brisk walk.

Still I didn't think too bad for an unplanned effort, and I was particulary pleased with the ease of the route through the City.

Interesting route! You might be pleased to notice that you could have refrained from starting the watch until you were at Southwark, because you re-did Westminster and Waterloo later on in the route.

Sounds like a Starkey type route to me, with those walks being turned into runs with suitable attire being worn....

Absolutely. I particularly like the Edgware Road to Southwark run.

But I'm not so keen on so many changes.

Thanks Mr Guru, we also have a rather nice choice of logos as well that would look rather stylish, so once we have decided which one to go with perhaps that can be included
