Cheapest way of staying at/near Amersham...

OK... two colleagues and I are going to be doing the challenge at some point in June and we're looking at accommodation options. Does anyone have any ideas as to what the cheapest option would be for three sharing a room?
I'm thinking the Travelodges at either Hemel or Watford - but does anyone know how much a taxi is likely to cost?

Any savings on cheap accomodation like a TravelLodge will be wiped out by the taxi fare. Try Nita Hurley's (
http://www.nitasbnb.co.uk/): a traditional pre-challenge stop over. Plus she is so used to Tube Challengers staying over she is never suprised by the early departures.

Even if the taxi is split between 3 people? I've had a look at the Travelodge site and it would work out at about £8 each for a room.
Nita's works out at just over £20 each for a "family room"

I've always been able to stay very near to Amersham for a lot less than that...
