Just pondering this - what would be the quicker way of doing the above journey out of the following:

1. Met to Finchley Road, cross platform to Jubilee, then to Baker Street, cross platform to Bakerloo.

2. Jubilee all the way to Baker Street, cross platform to Bakerloo.

3. Met all the way to Baker Street, then change for Bakerloo there?

Most likely either 1 or 3 - can't remember what the change is like at Baker Street going from Met to Bakerloo.

the interchange between the deep level/sub-surface lines at baker street is long. number 1 is probably quicker, as finchley road to baker street takes the same amount of time no matter which line you're on (jubilee is quicker speedwise but has 2 extra stops).

Cheers - had a feeling it'd probably be no. 1. Though my "journey times" map (downloaded from Geoff's 'sillymaps' page back when it existed - dead handy that, cheers Geoff!) says 6 minutes on the Met, 7 on the Jubilee (2 minutes, then 1, then 4, heading into town).

I would say number 1 is the fastest. But I know of a quicker way...

Well the TfL Journey Planner suggests Met to Baker Street, then the Bakerloo as being the fastest route.

Yeah, Piccadilly Circus is on the Bakerloo and not the Jubilee, so that's probably the fasted route there.

But Baker Street to Jubilee is my usual route, and nr. 1 is the option I usually take. It could be quicker to change at Baker St. in case you're in the carriage near the stairs down to the Jub/Bak and it's quiet at the station maybe.

Yes, I'd pretty much worked out that the quickest and easiest way to get to Piccadilly Circus would be to get on a train on the line that Piccadilly Circus station is actually on. Cheers for that

I'm guessing you meant Jubilee to Baker Street there...

Well, it's an extra change, but the changes are going to be so much quicker and easier that I was wondering if that would have made up for it. Plus Finchley Road to Baker Street is virtually no different, time-wise, whichever line you use - if you go by the one from Geoff's sillymaps page (RIP ) Jubilee's a minute longer (as I've said elsewhere), which is nothing compared with the 6 minutes longer it takes from Wembley Park to Finchley Road, as an example. Though there's waiting for other trains to take into account though - delays on one line could screw things up, but you could say that about any train you get on.

I just quite like the simplicity and easy of cross-platform interchanges.

I meant Metropolitan (coming from the west) to Jubilee (southbound) actually, sorry.

I'd be inclined to head down on the Metropolitan line to Finchley Road. After Willesden Green I'd be looking to see if my train overtakes a Jubilee. If it overtakes one after, say, Kilburn, I'd change at Finchley Road and wait for it to turn up. Then I'd change again at Baker Street. Otherwise, I'd just head on to Baker Street.
