Best album and single of 2006?
So which artists rocked your world in 2006.......?
Who had the best album and what was the best single released?
Very tempted as I was to go for "The sound of Girls Aloud" and the single "something kinda oooh".........they didn't quite get my vote
Instead on both counts it has to be the mighty Muse......
Album; Black holes & revelations
Single: Knights of cydonia
Track on link below for your enjoyment

Over to you lot now for your votes

I'd have to say the Best Album is:
The "Bakerloo EP" by The Underground Masker
Best single - well had it been released as a single I'd say:
"Secret Hidden Song" (from the above album):
http://lund.dyndns.org/palantir/Secret.mp3 (Crunchy - please, forgive me for publishing a link to your work. I'm sure it'll rather promote than undermine the sales of the album...)
My reasons are simple and compelling:
It's all dedicated to Tube Challenging! Besides, it's the only album I've bought during 2006 (basically I'm not a music listener) and It's the first time ever I've been mentioned in the lyrics of a properly recorded song...

best album: pride and fall - elements of silence
best single: dunno if the egg - walking away was released as a single in any of its guises, or whether it's just famous from the citroen advert. if it was then that. if not, i honestly don't know what the hell does get in the charts anymore, so pass. however i hear rumours the infamous cillit bang remix is being released in time for xmas... but i dunno whether that's gonna happen

Muse = overproduced bollocks.
Best album: I feel inclined to say If We Can't Escape My Pretty by the bloody marvellous IV Thieves, except that I have the US version. It's not out over here until February. Lost on a technicality.
In which case, I'll opt for Absentee's Schmotime. Witty lyrics that tell stories (one track in particular tells about murdering your girlfriend because she talks too much), and a bloody talented band make a superb album.
Best single: Wire & Glass - The Who. 'Nuff said.
