Zone 1 Challenge-Paddington how many lines need to be used?

A recent letter from Guinness re-opened the Paddington two stations/visits topic....
http://www.tubechallenge.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=389
It would seem that Guinness only deem Paddington to be ONE station as they only specifically mention Shepherds Bush and Edgware Road...
For the purposes of full 275 it is debatable if there is any benefit in NOT visiting both H & C and either Distirct/Circle/Bakerloo...
However for the purposes of Z1 it would certainly be advantageous in not having to visit H & C or Bak/Dis/Cir at Paddington.......
So in similar vain to the recent "Bottle" poll, do we need to use both the H & C or Bak/Dist/Cir?

I was going to vote no because I hate that run, but then I saw option three and thought it sounded better, so I went for that instead.

Well Mr Tubeguru I did put option three in especially for you

I'd have added it myself ... all yes/no polls should contain an abstain feature I believe.

Yes definitely, it does sometimes get overlooked.......

For us ordinary people - abstaining is a simple act of not voting...
As to the poll itself. I've been through exactly this question thouroughly before my first attempt earlier this year. I reacted just as GU to GWR's rules. But since it would then not add up to 275 stations I put an explicit question to them - and there was no ambiguity in their answer:
GWR wrote:Point 2 of our guidelines state that:
"Stations which are geographically separate and not linked but which have the
same name must each be visited. This applies to Shepherds Bush and Edgware
Road."
As the stations Paddington and Hammersmith are separate buildings with the same name, they do count as two stations each. So Hammersmith are 2 and Paddington are 2 stations.
Yours sincerely,

Consistency forced me to cast my vote on the Yes option!

Consistency is the key. Furthermore, don't people find the Paddington run fun? I certainly do.

Especially when the run is accompanied by the lovely sound of a brass band playing

this is where i get "political" you have a vote, use it. if you don't like the options you should still get your right to vote and say that you don't like your options, that you don't want a yes to represent you! [i'm being slightly tongue in cheek]
as for the actual topic i don't have too much of a opinion

Exactly - the idea of being able to "not vote" by voting is so that you can register that fact.
How do we know how many people are ignoring the vote because they don't care, ignoring it because they don't like Zone 1 challenges or ignoring it because they don't read the forum?

Depends on which way it's done I've always felt. Hammerschmitty- Bakerloo is a lot nicer than the other way round. It's also a good turnaround for the Bakerloo annoying stations (Although I guess Edgware Road could also be used). I wont vote just yet...

Paddington (H&C) should definitely be visited on a zone 1.
The way I view it, the Circle Line Bottle and Zone 1 Challenges were invented as mini versions of the All Stations Challenge so, although not recognised by GWR, both of these challenges should include all stations within their respective areas. If GWR say that Paddington is 2 separate stations on an All Stations attempt then they should remain 2 separate stations on a Zone 1 attempt. Similarly, if there was a Zones 1 & 2 challenge, Shoreditch would have to be visited by bus.
The poll for Edgware Road and Marylebone on the Circle Line Bottle was acceptable as there was a discussion on whether or not Edgware Road and Marylebone were actually inside the Circle Line. Once it was established by the majority that Edgware Road and Marylebone were inside the Circle Line, most people agreed to follow GWR rules and visit these.
Whilst I have voted in the poll that Paddington (H&C) should be visited, I don't think there is even any argument for the Hammersmith and City station to be excluded with the Guiness Rules in their current state.
I do, also, believe that Tube Challenging is a fun pastime but it is also supposed to be *challenging*. Lazy boy arguments such as the run at Paddington being too tiring are silly, taking some of the fun out of it!

If I put my conspiratory mind to it I almost think it's by chance those two stations are included by GWR. They clearly only have a superficial knowledge of the tube system. In their "rules" there is no mentioning of those stations, but rather stated only when explicitely told about them (and the potential 275-count inconsistency).
Another example:
In their specific guidelines they state the following:
GWR wrote:The record is for the fastest time to cover all networks of the London Underground. The (SW Trains) Waterloo and City line, the (West Anglia) Finsbury Park to Moorgate line and the Docklands Light Railway are not included.
which is quite a strange way of putting things and has little to do with
visiting all LU stations.

I agree in principle, and maybe I'm wrong in the semantics here (due to language issues), but I think "abstain" is the same as abstaining but a "blank" or "no opinion" alternative makes sense to me. I was merely marking words here.
On similar note:
In the general elections in Sweden a month ago, you had the option of casting a "blank vote", that is not part of the result (same as not voting in that respect), but is listed in the official count (not part of result). However, scribbling "Dr Who's party" or "Blank voters' party" on your vote, constitutes a perfectly legal vote and is both counted and a part of the official result...
Potentially the difference between a blank vote and a nonsense vote could decide whether a "proper" party gets 4% (limit for the parliament) of total votes or not!

Well, in the title of this thread you are already assuming we are talking about two stations here, while I thought the argument was that that they are actually part of one station, not shown as one as to make people take the easier interchange? One of the arguments, anyway.
