Stand on the Right, Please (District Line Dub)

This song is based on "Maggots In Ya Catapult" by Bob Nudd.

Those unfamiliar with the Bob Nudd song can DOWNLOAD IT HERE.

I haven't recorded this Tube version of it yet.

Sample Lyrics

Come Tube running with the Underground bandits!
Bring a mask and a packet of biscuits
Bring your log book
Bring your plasters
I'm the man, King Challenge, the Zone One MASTER!
The blaster!
I'm no disaster!
Compared to me there's nobody faster!
I'm on a Tube race, I won't mess around
That's why you're on the surface and I'm underground!

Update May 09: I've ordered the Bob Nudd CD, so it should arrive within a couple of days.

Stand On The Right Please (District Line Dub) will be pumpin' out your stereo by the weekend. Probably.

Update May 10: I will be selling copies of the CD, if I can get it finished in time, for £2 each. This is blatant piracy but I will stop at nothing to become filthy rich.

I have designed the sleeve:

Now all I need is to record the bloody thing.

Update May 11: The Bob Nudd CD arrived today! The song is a lot longer than I reviously imagined (a whole 3:33) which means I have a whole new verse to write!

I thought I'd have to use some sort of vocal-remover program to take the lyrics out of the song, but in a stroke of genius, anticipating the throngs of karaoke fishermen queuing up to belt out this classic down the pub, Nudd decided to include an INSTRUMENTAL track on the disc! That means I can just plug the mic in and start recording!

I've tweaked a couple of the lyrics and I should be able to start tonight.

UPDATE! IT'S FINISHED!!!!!!!

The song is downloadable from THIS WEBSITE HERE!
and THIS ONE HERE
Thanks to the webmasters for hosting the file there.

The song is MP3 format, 3.3Mb, 3min 35s.

I will also have a few singles on me on the Tube Challenge Day, featuring the Caldera - The Tournament sound thing as well, and the splendid sleeve WITH LYRICS!

Enjoy!!!

EDIT: By the way, the new third verse is the best yet! (sample lyric: "I'M A FOCUSSED MACHINE!!!")

I haven't recorded this Tube version of it yet, I'd like to finalise the lyrics first. So I'm asking for your help! Please come up with amendments to these words. I want it to be a group effort and not just me!

Lyrics

Come Tube running with the Underground bandits!
Bring a mask and a packet of biscuits
Bring your log book
Bring your plasters
I'm the man, King Challenge, the Zone One MASTER!
The blaster!
I'm no disaster!
Compared to me there's nobody faster!

(A green signal, all stations to hand)
or
(A green signal, we're going southbound)

That's why you're on the surface and I'm underground!

COMIN' AT YA!
On a Jubilee train!
Stanmore to Baker Street's the route in my brain
I'm the Theydon Bois boy, I'm the Ruislip Ragamuffin
Snoop Grenny Greenwich, gonna knock out your stuffin'
From Edgware to Epping, that's what I do

(I'm on a Tube Challenge, I'm telling you!)
or
(I haven't got the record but I'm telling you!)

COMIN' AT YA!
Changing lines with my expertise!

(Fools on the escalators, stand on the right, please!)
or
(Escalator tourists, stand on the right please!)

[Chorus:]

(Tube challenge) Stand on the right please
(Tube challenge) Get out the way. x4

Doooown in the deep-level, what do I see?
A Bakerloo driver who's looking right up at me.
I say "What?" I say "What?" I say "Queens Park?"
H&W's the stop-for-me
I'm the champ'ian!
The Tube Challenge man!
If I don't do all stations then nobody can
I need Wembley!
I'm the Zone D Thunderer and
You, Mr. Driver, are a Bakerloo blunderer!

A big white train comin' up from the GROUND
I write in the logbook as I travel northbound
I run overground
From Ickenham to Ruislip
And head down to Heathrow international flight-strip
The T4 Bus is what I need
It's all just a question of running at speed
It's all just a question of travelling with ease
So 'scuse me, out the way, stand on the right please.

Chorus:

(Tube challenge) Stand on the right please
(Tube challenge) Get out the way. x4

(then the DJ starts interjecting with "Rubbish! Rubbish!")
Anthony ...

You spend far too much time on this whole tube challenge thing.

Seriously.

Really?! I would love to compile an album!

Send me the Inspector Sands tune!

And when the album is recorded, we should think about live performances. We could do appearances at small London venues to start with, and then when 'da hype' kicks in, the full UK Tube Challenge tour will be unleashed.

Shotgun doing backing vocals on Anthony's song.

Ooh...

http://www.sureradio.com

Listen in from 2pm today (Sunday). Someone has got wind of Anthony's song and he will be interviewed on air.
Looks like you need Realplayer for it.

Last time I listened to that station, I got the impression that they weren't giving us good value for money.

***** wrote:actually, i've just remembered the 'G Force' on these boards here once created a 'tube tune' called "Who is inspector Sands?".
And a rather good tune it is, in a old skool style!

It all happened at about 3.45, unfortunately my phone was crap so you could hardly hear my voice for distortion, but the song (and The Tournament) were played fine!

I gave Geoff a mention, as well as G-Force. You should send the Inspector Sands tune to Adham and I'm sure he'll play it!
