Attempt planned (a.k.a. Dire straits)

I and Lars are coming to town again Sep 25th-27th for another attempt at the GWR (Tue 26th). Go to http://www.purpletube.com/?m=200603 (scroll to March 22) to read about our last attempt.

This time we have a new significantly improved route planned! Still Amersham-Heathrow. But some assistance is needed:

Priority 1: We need a stop watch operator!
Priority 2: We could use some external support during the day!

Optional: A third (full) member with lot's of tactical Tube knowledge (exits, overpasses, platforms etc) and a willingness to approach independent witnesses. Some light running and brisk walking, but not a lot of sprinting needed.

Any help would be deeply appreciated!

Please PM me if you're interested.

And there I was thinking this thread was about an 80's rock group led by Mark Knopfler ...

And I was all ready to do "the walk of life" :D

As discussed with Hakan I can tie up the Heathrow end......

*** UPDATE ***

We're still short on stop watch operator at the start - the end is covered by "Going Underground".

Also, don't hesitate to get in touch if you want to spend a smaller or larger part of the 26th with us, just supporting!

Blast - I have family commitments that day.
Best of British to you! (Or perhaps that's not quite appropriate...)

I should warn you that there are currently roadworks in New Barnet which will affect you if you are using the 307 or 384 buses from High Barnet to Cockfosters. It is a nightmare during the rush hours, off peak it isn't as bad but there will still be delays.

I'm aware of those - but thanks anyway! Since we go through there nowhere near rush hours, I expect only very minor delays.

I can't come out and help you, but if you happen to be in Chesham around lunchtime, give me a ring and I'll bring food :P.

I suppose you don't have lunch at around 05:48 then...

Most things are now in place for our Tuesday attempt! I and Lars will form an all Swedish two man team. We have support arranged during the middle portion of the day (including a lunch service) by Joy54. We have an independent stop watch operator enrolled for both ends. We may enjoy the company by Going Underground for the last couple of hours of the attempt. A couple of other less specific visits during the day have also been announced!

But there is still room for additional support - just PM me before Monday morning if you are interested in helping out!

You have a late start time.

EDIT: Here's me trying to be clever and getting it wrong...

A 5:28 start from Amersham gets you to Chesham at 5:48, isn't that correct?

Allegedly.

Is it not the case, though, that if one starts on the second or third train of the day, there's not so much waiting around at places like Chalfont and Latimer and so on?

There's obviously more risk of not finishing if one does that, though.
