Plus it will definitely take longer than 14 days - the fastest so far is three weeks, and that's using mostly express services (so use of the Caledonian Sleeper up the WCML would mean you covered the likes of Kings Langley, Milton Keynes Central, Bletchley, Penrith the North Lakes, Wigan North Western or South Kenton).

I have stopped off at and visited three of the six mentioned above. Pick them out.

I wouldn't count South Kenton as a pass through on the WCML, as the only platform faces are on the DC lines (unless the Sleeper gets diverted up the DC lines with a class 92).

This is a Central line train to "Woodford via Hainault"- sadly, not no more!

Reviving this discussion to link to an article about a dedicated individual. Does anyone know him?

For the purists, this paragraph in the article worries me:

The station at Teesside Airport has two trains a week, both on Sundays, meaning David arrived and departed on bus. "And the station is a good 15 minute walk from the terminal," he says.

As soon as I read this article, I thought "Surely that wouldn't count". If I were doing it, I'd say I had to arrive and/or depart every station by train.

Clearly he's just gotten a picture of every station, not completed the challenge!!

Agreed, but I still feel like if I was making the effort to go to all stations I'd want to either leave or depart each one by train, otherwise I might as well just get in my car and drive to them.

If he's planned all these trips in can't be that hard to rock up at Teesside Airport at the right time on a Sunday.

Would flying there count as 'public transport'? (assuming you then departed by train,or vice versa)

Having been and done Teesside Airport (alighted at the station on the last train of the day that calls there). I can vouch the only way out is to walk the 30-40 minutes back to Middleton St. George (Dinsdale) to pick up the shortened Arriva route 12 bus or another train.

The route 12 Arriva bus does not run to the Airport on a Sunday (does on Monday- Saturday), having done research prior to my visit.
