Going Underground is off to the Oval to watch Cricket on 7th July.
Once the game is over we both fancy doing a late evening bottle challenge, starting at approx 20:45
However, given that it will be the first anniversary of 7/7 would that be such a good idea? We want to get the view of the forum before we go ahead and do this.

I think that if you were to do it, you'd have to impose rules that would make you look more like normal commuters etc., e.g. no running etc.,

The police are obviously going to be on edge on a day like this, and may well not hesitate to arrest/shoot someone running for a train - it's probably do-able, but you'd need to exercise extreme caution.

As well as that, I don't want to panic anyone, but if there's going to be another attack, the 7th will be a prime day

As well as that, why should 7/7 be a day to walk around dressed in gray and talking in hushed tones - yes, by all means remember those who died, but I'm sure we're allowed to have fun

I agree that July 7th would be an insensitive day to do this. There are plenty of other days it can be done, and you are likely to scare/annoy other passengers/the authorities.

On the other hand, now we have Queensway back, who will be the first to take the bottle under 2 hours? It can surely be done now...

If you impose a no-running rule though, you won't scare anyone though, and it might make it more interesting!

You still fail to say what's so immoral about it though... should we not travel in planes on September 11th? Or on the anniversary of the Lockerbie Bombing?!

Travelling on a plane on those dates isn't the same as running around the network like a bunch of nutters for fun, though, is it?

Just to say that July 7th happened to be when I had a half day off work and have tickets to go and watch cricket at the Oval. Whilst in London I was just going to make full use of the day and possibly fit a challenge in as well.

So Ric I fully take your point about it being an insensitive day, but this date wasn't specifically arranged for a challenge....
There is another date for a bottle on July 24th so the sub two hours could well be cracked then

Think you've got a point there GU... after the main part of the day is done and the rushes have passed, I reckon security will be down to a pretty normal level - leaving us TCers to do our thang!
