It's really surprising (in a good way) that the two fastest times ever were set from a start at Borough which doesn't seem like a good place to start for a Zone One Challenge. Suggests that a faster time might be possible when you can choose where to start, perhaps.

Yes, Borough is a slightly surprising one.

Many Challengers pre-plan a circular route so that they have a route which works irrespective of which starting station has been chosen.

For a cir4cular route, the fastesr time would be from a station at either end of the longest OSI (as you then wouldn't have to do the OSI).

So I would suggest either Vauxhall or Battersea Power Station would be the start for the theoretical fastest time.

Yes, I'm a little surprised that some very fast time was set from Borough as well. But two things should be pointed out:

1. Circular routes currently work pretty well for Zone 1, so it shouldn't matter that much where the start is.

2. Although 2 of the times set from Borough were very fast, a lot were much slower.

Don't want to start a new thread just for one post so thought I'd use this one to say that on 3rd March (2025) I completed the Zone One challenge in a time of 2 hours 59 mins 26.16 secs. Was heading for a possible record but got a relatively long wait at a station near the end. Planning to try the same route again as soon as possible with maybe one or two very minor changes.
