Re: Railway Trivia Question
Do they all claim to run fast services to the same destination? But none of them actually get there?
At least, I don't think there's a station at the North Pole yet...
OR... Do all these stations claim to be the North Pole?

A certain Mr Hanks (or his animated avatar) might disagree with you...

Re: Railway Trivia Question
Yes, all these stations are currently boarding points for services to the North Pole.
However the geographical anomaly is that the trains travel south to get there!

And another question from me:
Which two stations on the Tube map have statues of Edward VII outside them?

Re: Railway Trivia Question
Reading and Tooting Broadway? I guessed the first from your wording (on a shortlist with Slough) but took a little while to find the second because of so much material about the statue in Waterloo Place.
First to 100000 in the 2015+ Tumbleweed contest. Winner of a few rounds of a diverse range of quizzes/games. Some decent times in alternative challenges as a fiftysomething who merely walks briskly. Briefly led All The Actons.

David
Well done, they're the two I was thinking of anyway! (In case anyone comes up with another one I didn't know about....)
My forum "handle" was another hint to the first one....

Re: Railway Trivia Question
Another question from me (again railway related):
What connects:
Jools Holland
Bernard Cribbins
The Two Ronnies?

Re: Railway Trivia Question
Am I along the right lines with this:
Jools Holland - appeared in "The Tube"
Bernard Cribbins - appeared in "The Railway Children"
The Two Ronnies - - appeared in a Tube/Railway stations sketch?
I guess there's more to it than that, but it's hopefully got the ball rolling with guessing the answer.

Re: Railway Trivia Question
It's to do with something they appeared in (or on) but it's more specific than that.

Re: Railway Trivia Question
Nobody got my last question, to which the answer is that they were all "shrunk down" by the magic of television and travelled on model railways - Bernard for a Hornby advert, Ronnie C & B for a musical sketch about a narrow gauge train driver and fireman (filmed on the well-known Dovey Valley Railway layout) and Jules rode on his own model railway/slot car layout in the opening credits to one of his TV shows.
Now a new question - what do the numbers one, seven, nine and ten have in common? (And no, "One of Ten" wasn't a Borg Drone....)

They're the only numbers that appear on the tube map - Marylebone, Seven Sisters, Nine Elms and Tottenham Court RoadRJSRdg wrote: ↑31 Mar 2023, 15:19 Nobody got my last question, to which the answer is that they were all "shrunk down" by the magic of television and travelled on model railways - Bernard for a Hornby advert, Ronnie C & B for a musical sketch about a narrow gauge train driver and fireman (filmed on the well-known Dovey Valley Railway layout) and Jules rode on his own model railway/slot car layout in the opening credits to one of his TV shows.
