News has reached me that a new world record (and potential GWR, they have sent all the evidence to Guinness including 18 hours of Go Pro footage) has been achieved by John Mawdsley in a time of 18:08:23 on the 23rd October 2023.

I have verified their evidence and am happy to award them the new unofficial record time.

List edited, with the newly-confirmed GWR added, shaving a gargantuan five minutes and seven seconds off the previous best.

Mind you, when I held the record twenty years ago, it was beaten by just five seconds when we finally lost it

List edited to include Alan White's new fastest time, which will not be subimtted to GWR. Thus, the current record stands as the fastest official time.

This is NOT an April Fool's joke ...

List edited to add the latest fastest unofficial time, not submitted to GWR, by David Edgington, Gabriel Ferris, and Milo Lennon on the 25th of July.

And by almost 22 minutes too.
