Random 15 Championship: Round 4
Let's get back on track!
As virtaully all Coronavirus restrictions have now been rescinded, it is time to re-start the aborted 2019/20 Random 15 season pretty much exactly where we left it two years ago!
The rules and scoring are unchanged from previous seasons but as we are effectively carrying on the 2019/20 season points gained from this round will be added onto the leaderboard from the first three rounds so all still to play for.
When: Saturday 26th March 2022 12:30 UK local time.
Pre-challenge meet up point: Battersea Power Station Station (street side of ticket barriers).
Variant: Normal round with 19 stations in zones 1 & 2 and a live bucket draw.
Time limit: 4 hours
As usual, post challenge darts and beer afterwards with no doubt plenty to catch up upon!
This is a live bucket draw round, this means that challengers present at the start will pick the stations to be visited out of a "bucket" immediately prior to the challenge commences. Can I request challengers who are attending be at the meeting point at least 15 minutes before the start time for the draw to take place and the challenge to start promptly at 12:30.
Closures affecting the challenge: **Correct as of time of posting**.
--Central: Eastbound trains NOT stopping at East Acton
--Circle: Sloane Square- Edgware Road via HSK
--District: Sloane Square/Edgware Road- Barons Court/Kensington Olympia/Fulham Broadway
--Northern: Moorgate- Kennington via Bank.
--Piccadilly: Trains NOT stopping at South Kensington (nor will the Circle and District call either!).
--DLR: Bank closed (diverted to/from Tower Gateway).
Therefore the following stations are closed and will be removed from the draw: Bayswater, Borough, High Street Kensington, South Kensington, Kensington Olympia, West Brompton, West Kensington.
Other closures to be aware of:
--c2c: All trains to terminate/start from Fenchurch Street only (none via Stratford).
--Great Eastern/Crossrail: Liverpool Street- Shenfield (all lines).
--Great Northern: Finsbury Park- Moorgate (diversions to/from Kings X).
--Overground: Camden Road- Stratford; Surrey Quays- New Cross.
--Southern: No trains at London Victoria.
Those who are attending please make yourself known.

This is a Central line train to "Woodford via Hainault"- sadly, not no more!

Not sure if I'll be there or not - it depends on (a) how confident I'm feeling on the Tube by then and (b) whether I'm likely to be visiting my parents within the following couple of weeks.

Personally, much as I've enjoyed the Bricklayers in the past, I think now I'd prefer somewhere not quite so 'cosy'.
Wasn't there another one near there with a stained glass window of WG Grace that we used one time when the Brickies wasn't available?
Or maybe the Prince William Henry at Southwark?

Re: Random 15 Championship: Round 4
I'm not bothered about going back to The Bricklayers as it was nice to have a "Tube Challenge" contained area. The landlord was also happy to have us reserve the area and our custom.RJSRdg wrote: ↑08 Mar 2022, 22:18 Personally, much as I've enjoyed the Bricklayers in the past, I think now I'd prefer somewhere not quite so 'cosy'.

Ultimately if you wouldn't be happy congregating with a small group of people in that sort of space then you probably also wouldn't be happy being on many of the deep level tube trains in zone 1.
We also have to get on with life now (barring alien invasion or Putin nuking us of course), but it must be said that it wasn't the cheapest pub and unless there has been a change of ownership within Samuel Smith's the "no mobiles" policy was a tad annoying.
If we were to consider moving then +1 to the Prince William Henry for no reason other the selfish one that I can catch a train home direct from Blackfriars and it's a short walk for the folks who head homewards from Waterloo. The downside being that there isn't a particularly separate area where we can congregate and where Tangy can announce the results without disturbing other patrons.
