I'm Up For A Chat On The Tube

I'm an artist/barmaid living in South East London, and I'm undertaking a project...

To find people who are Up For A Chat On The Tube!

Anyone who is up for a chat on the tube is entitled to wear an "I'm Up For A Chat On The Tube" badge. If people chat to someone on the tube, they pass on the badge and I send them another. So far it's onto 4-people-removed from myself, and there are over 200 badges out there... a lot, a little ripple, but to get people going we need a bit of a stir!

To get a badge (for £0, but 100% identification to the cause) people have to send an SAE to:
Hannah's Cafe, PO BOX 45362, London, SE14 5UG

There's a bit more info, and an image of a badge at http://www.hannahscafe.co.uk

Comments/Suggestions/Mean Remarks/Nice Remarks to:
hannah@hannahscafe.co.uk

ahhh, if you cant beat them then join them theory!
Yeah like Neil I checked out Hannah's website already through the memberlist......
Sounds good to me, are you about on Zone 1 challenge day Hannah?
See link "Zone 1: May 19th 2006"
Maybe you could bring some badges along and distribute amongst the challengers :)

The only people I've talked to (or rather, have talked to me) on the Tube, beside people I know, have been tramps and nutters, or both. One was convinced he knew Max Clifford.

This chat business sounds great, though!

Yep likewise
I met Jesus, apparently
He was very nice

I think there's an unwritten rule that you *can't* speak, and if you do you're the nutter.

A female friend of mine got head-butted on bus, with people all around, and no-one asked if she was okay!
This could act for and against the badges in a way, but the sworn silence in this example can only be a bad thing?

There seems to be a dehumanisation apparent that polite exchange could help remedy?

I don't know if these things written at the bottom are signatures or thoughts of the day.
Thought of the day, anyway: If Sikhs are exempt from wearing crash helmets, do they wear helmets when paint-balling?

So, as previously mentioned, are you coming to Zone 1 2006 this Friday? I'm sure you would get at couple of dozen takers. Sending an SAE is just so much hassle... but I'd love a badge! The silence of everyone else makes me feel strange talking, even when I have a friend on the train with me :?.

Which also reminds me of the absolutely worst aspect of GWR attempts - the signed witness reports from fellow passengers... I really had a hard time both in forcing myself into trying and then actually in getting any!

Stupid GWR rule!

You can always get a badge by sending an SAE to Hannah, as outlined at the top of this thread.

Good point - if Hannah comes to the Zone 1 Challenge thing (and I bet the First Time Club have never done THAT before), she can give out badges to everyone!

There should be enough of us there.

There seems to be a cross thread here, both Root and myself were asking Hannah if she was coming to zone 1 day, as I am sure we would all probably take a badge from her.......... 8)
