Finally got a decent run on this challenge. Had been prepared to head out early this morning to connect with the 8.01 from Ealing Broadway, but there were delays on that branch - all the trains were going to West Ruislip - so I had a leisurely breakfast instead.

I tried again at lunchtime. There's a Central line train which is timetabled to get into EAB just after 13.00 leaving East Acton at 12.53. I was nervous as I thought that might be a bit tight to make the connection. Luckily there was a slightly delayed train which arrived at 12.51 so I decided to play it safe and take that one instead. Very glad I did - Tfl train pulled in as I was walking along the platform at EAB and we were pulling out as the next Central line train approached the station.

As usual the TfL train ran a little early and I was heading out of Acton Main Line by 13.03. Foot is getting stronger and knocked a minute off my last interchange time, arriving on the southbound platform as the train pulled in at 13.17. Quick run down to South Acton and another brisk walk over to Chiswick Park. Was in plenty of time to catch the timetabled 13.29 but it ran a couple of minutes late, so got to Acton Town at 13.33 for a total time of 42m34s.

So still beatable for someone walking, and definitely smashable for someone who could run between the stations.

Thanks - it's beatable, so you definitely have a good chance of getting it back.

An update from TfL on the eastbound platform at East Acton:
The closure of East Acton station’s eastbound platform will be extended to mid-May 2022.

We apologise that this longer closure is required. When the platform was removed the condition of the supports were worse than expected, and the reconstruction requires much more extensive work. As part of the extended closure we will now also resurface the western end of the eastbound platform at the same time.

Eastbound Central line services towards central London will not stop at the station during these works.

To travel eastbound from East Acton:

Take a westbound train to North Acton and change there for an eastbound service
To travel to East Acton on an eastbound train:

Continue to White City, changing there for a westbound train to return to East Acton
When the Central line Night Tube service resumes from Saturday 27 November, services will not stop at East Acton until mid-May 2022.

To travel from East Acton during Night Tube hours:

Use bus route N72 to White City and take the Night Tube eastbound towards central London, or westbound towards North Acton, West Acton, or Ealing Broadway
Alternatively for journeys between Ealing Broadway and East Acton in either direction at night, use bus route N7. The N7 bus service does not stop at North Acton or West Acton
We are sorry for the disruption caused by the extension of these works to improve the long-term condition of the platform. Once they are completed, eastbound Central line services will resume, along with the full Night Tube service.

Conhratulations to the challenger. Looking forward to hearing the detail! Presumably it involved serious sprinting and maybe late-running services rather than anything fundamental structurally.
