Though my understanding is there aren't any buses to T4 either, as the terminal is shut!
And presumably the nearest you can get to the T4 underground station is the entrance to the terminal itself.

Didn't you have to visit Shoreditch by bus for a couple of years despite the fact that it was closed and no longer an Underground station!

No - After the closure of Shoreditch it did not have to be visited by bus or via any other means.

Main problems/issues at the moment:
Heathrow Terminal 4: closed until not sure when.
South Kensington, Piccadilly Line: closed until not sure when (although supposed to be open by next spring).
Epping: refurbishment programme causing fewer trains than normal.
Battersea Power Station and Nine Elms: not sure when opening.
Moving around stations: not supposed to walk/run as much as you'd need to do to have a good chance of getting a good time.
