Excellent! It was worth the gamble of guessing it.

The shadows may have helped a little, but it was logic more than anything. I'd looked around lots of likely places, but had exhausted them all. Manchester Airport was one of my early guesses but it didn't look right.

When I realised that Manchester Airport was still very likely, I did a little more research. That is when I discovered a previously-unknown bridge across the station. Hey presto ...

Tell you what - the final one looks remarkably like it's a couple of miles from somewhere I grew up. I can't be sure, but I'm gonna have a shot at it anyway. Here goes:

You nearly did have me. I'd exhausted everywhere else I thought was possible. And although I'd suspected Preston early on (as it looked familiar), all photos of the station showed the general buildings, not these specific ones. But I'd detected that there were four OH lines between the camera and the platform opposite, which brought me back to this familiar sight from my youth.

In the end I had to use 3D Google aerial photography to try and confirm my suspicions. And it worked!

Ah, memories of time spent on platform 1, waiting for the train to Blackpool, whilst staring to the mail platform opposite. On one occasion, I got on the train with a friend, and it pulled out of the station the wrong way. We'd accidentally got on the platform 2 train instead! We had to turn around at Lostock Hall before our trip to the seaside (by then slightly delayed!)
