Darn. That was a period during which I was hoping to have a go at doing most of the tube challenge, with less passengers than usual. Thanks for the news though.

Is it usual on a normal Christmas Eve to have less passengers as a rule

Indeed, I don't believe the airport terminal is even open yet, so there would be no need for passenger calling trains!
Am I right that you wouldn't need to either alight or use the station for the tube challenge — you just need the doors to open and for the train to continue to HT2? But maybe they are making sure members of the public don't get on the trains in the first place.

Correct - the requirements for the tube challenge are that the train calls in public service (i.e. passengers can use the train to either alight or depart), you do not personally have to "use" each station. Hence your plan to use T4 falls on both counts - the train won't be calling (the doors won't open), and it won't be in passenger service.

Six countries back on the red list. T4 not opening any time soon!

I'm trying to understand your logic here (I know, a futile exercise most of the time).

But ... are you telling us that by obeying the rules we have somehow contributed to the spread of a new Covid variant in foreign countries?

At the risk of sounding futile, if it wasn't open between 2 Oct and 28 Nov, when no countries were on the red list, I suspect it may not open again?

Additionally, the words "parliamentary train" spring to mind here, having been closed now for 21 months...

Parliamentary tube now that would be cool

... except that the one service per week would probably be on a Saturday, basically making an FNC impossible.

Mind you, I can't wait to see Geoff's video about it!

As much as I love a good Parliamentary service, I very much doubt T4 would ever fall into requiring such a service whilst the Terminal is closed and the station therefore inaccessible. Do local Metro stations even have the same legal complexities as standard railway stations?

Given the Olympia situation, you would think it may well do.

That said, the fact no passenger train has called at Terminal 4 since March 2020 may suggest otherwise - unless the closure rules were also waived for Covid?

When the latest TfL station passenger numbers were released recently, T4 not surprisingly was bottom of the list, but, surprisingly the number of passengers was not zero.

160 passengers passed through the station in the last 12 months, which suggests that some trains at least have stopped there.
