And given the high possibility of somebody catching something from somebody else, or from a filthy dispenser/fountain, I would say you have no chance of that ever happening.

Thames Water started installing water fountains at stations in 2019 (designed to refill water bottles rather than the traditional water fountain design), but had to switch them off because of the pandemic. They haven't been taken out though, so one day I'm sure they'll be switched on again.

If you've got time on the platform to fill your water bottle, your challenge has gone wrong somewhere ;-)

I use Google Maps as a "journey finder" for checking various routes, and I've just noticed that some Northern Line services in the middle of the day appear to be terminating at Mill Hill East. I'm surprised because I thought it was only services in the morning and evening rush hours that either terminated or started their journey at MHE. Have TFL changed their mind about this?

For example, there's a 12:38pm service from Morden that terminates at MHE at 1:36pm on weekdays at the moment.

Yes, all trains to MHE now run through to Central London since the Battersea branch opened.

They seem to have altered the Mill Hill East timetable — yet again.

Presumably that is because of the current Bank branch closure?

I don't want to start a new thread just for this so I'll use this one:

The section of the Northern Line that was closed between Moorgate and Borough has opened today (Sunday). Apparently it was expected to open on Monday but they opened it a day early for some reason.

South Kensington station on the Piccadilly Line should be opening very soon because they've always said it would by spring this year.

This could be important for tube challengers.

The service from Battersea Power Station and Nine Elms has doubled in frequency, starting on 27th June. Now every 6 minutes.

Well, that's potentially saved me 6 minutes - thanks for the heads up!

Oh dear. This is ridiculous from Guinness.

"Before 2021, if the system gained or lost stations and length, the record would be reset, as subsequent participants would not have the same course, and the first fastest verified time would be the new record. Now, Guinness was telling me the record for 272 stations must be based on the last one for 270 (15 hours, 45 minutes, 38 seconds) and they had imposed a limit of 16 hours — giving only 14 minutes and 22 seconds more for the two new stations."

https://londonist.com/london/transport/ ... -extension

According to this they won't consider any records of more than 16 hours, even with the Battersea Power Station extension. That's almost impossible, if not actually impossible.

No, Adham said that to get anywhere near 16 hours is unlikely, so therefore that must be the truth - he speaks for all tube challengers don't you know?!
