You're right - I've updated it to use that route. I've worked out that I can actually do the rayners run a bit faster so I've got some backup time for my Preston road time. Thanks!dstock17 wrote:it depends on your running time I guess but there is an alternative for you if u reverse your route and prepare to run or walk to rayners. I predict a 07.58 rayners lane train to ealing common then train to ealing Broadway then central to east Acton west ruislip run ickenham in more time than 5.45mins uxbridge 09.07.30 09.09.0 out same time as train that u have into Preston rdFelixJ20000 wrote:Damn ok well hopefully the 45 seconds makes the difference!dstock17 wrote:if u read Geoff and Neil world record they clearly state that they had trouble running in 5mins and that's was end of the day when it was all or nothing for them.

I think I need to focus on my runs to bring this up faster, so I'll go through on that.

I'm not sure about how that bus is going to get to Cockfosters that quickly - theoretically you COULD run all the way and make the train, but you might be too tired, etc.
Also, how did the Bank change timing go?

The bus timetables tell me that I can, and that run from the stop to the station could be done quicker tbh. Also, plans changed to involve sleep and my friend who I'll be going with was busy so 2 weeks and we'll see.quisquidillius wrote:I'm not sure about how that bus is going to get to Cockfosters that quickly - theoretically you COULD run all the way and make the train, but you might be too tired, etc.

I agree with Iain, practice makes perfect. Split your route into four or five sections and practice them at least a couple of times before attempting the big one. Your practice should be at the actual times. You will soon find out whether your theoretical timings are achievable or impossible, allowing you to tweak your route timings.Iain wrote:The WR route doesn't have anything miraculous in it - there are "tricks" you pick up from solid research, but the biggest component was a lot of exploring the options and trial and error
If you just want a completion, my advice would be to start at Heathrow T5 and end in the NW on the Met. If it is a fast time you want then start on the Met and finish at Heathrow but remember that it increases the risk that you miss your connection to Olympia (there are only two evening trains) and don't complete.
Good luck.

As ideal as that would be, educationing means I have a limited schedule. But I have managed to cut 20 mins...Iain wrote:...or if you make the attempt during the Ideal Home Expo then there might be some other options

What is the 'doubleup' column going to be for?
I really like how this route has taken shape! What I find especially clever is how you've done Olympia and the bits near it (I hadn't thought about doing Holland Park that way).

Counting on each section how many route pieces (bits between stations) I have already covered in that bit - you'll seequisquidillius wrote:What is the 'doubleup' column going to be for?

Yes - the downside is that a later start means less time to finish

I'm not sure they are running Olympia services for any exhibitions any more. At the Horse Show just before Christmas (which coincided this time with the London Chess Classic (so I was going to Olympia every day that week)), they seemed to be running a 'replacement bus service' on weekdays.Iain wrote:...or if you make the attempt during the Ideal Home Expo then there might be some other options

Can't they just kill it already?Nigel wrote:I'm not sure they are running Olympia services for any exhibitions any more.
