Correct with both Billies!
Billie Eilish, born 18 December 2001 with "No Time To Die" (topical)
Billie Piper, born 22 September 1982 with "Because We Want To"

Afraid not. Lennon's first solo number one was in 1980 and someone born in the 1940s beat the Beatles by six years!

I misunderstood the question, I thought it had to be the person born earliest in the decade to have a number one.

I will probably go with my original idea, which is Cliff Richard?

Understand. Of course artists born earlier in one decade are more likely to be the answer, as they're more likely to have a number one as a teenager before all others. Jimmy Osmond is the biggest anomaly as he was born latest in his decade and had a number one earliest in the next decade.
Anyway, Cliff Richard (born 5 days after John Lennon) is not the answer for the 1940s, I'm afraid.

Name the first person born in each of the following decades to have had a UK number one single...
the 1940s, the 1950s, the 1960s, the 1970s, the 1980s, the 1990s, the 2000s
Time to reveal the missing answers I think...
Paul Anka, born 30 July 1941, with "Diana" in 1957.
Mary Hopkin, born 3 May 1950, with "Those Were The Days" in 1968.
Sean Kingston, born 3 February 1990, with "Beautiful Girls" in 2007.

Mary Hopkin surprised me the most when I did my research - I hadn't realised she was so young.
Bonus fact: "Diana" by Paul Anka was number 1 for 9 weeks, and was the last record to stay at number one for that long until "Bohemian Rhapsody" 18 years later.

I knew the first one - mentioned in a documentary about Michael Bond - but had fun googling the other two. Didn't recognize the name of the second one, but knew who they were as soon as I saw a photo.

Let's have some answers for these, for anyone who's interested.
1) This was Jeremy Clarkson's parents
2) The father of Rebecca Front, actress, probably best known as Nicola Murray in "The Thick Of It"
3) Susan Calman's father
