No. Perhaps I should also say that no other women have this connection. Only these eight!

Correct answer!

Is this common knowledge, 'cause I only read it recently?

Apparently it is traditional to give TBMs a female name. Although given how modern the technology is, it can't be a very old tradition.

The Crossrail TBMs worked in pairs, so they were named in pairs. And they took suggestions from the general public for each pair, so it's surprising we didn't get Tunnelly McBoringFace!

So the pairs were Phyllis & Ada, Victoria & Elizabeth (she gets a tunnel boring machine and the whole line named after her?), Sophia & Mary, Ellie & Jessica.

Except that the Orient Express (presume you mean the VSOE as the historic Orient Express no longer runs) neither goes from St Pancras nor to Turkey....

The historic Orient Express went from Paris to Turkey, but that didn't start at St Pancras either...

That's three different types of train, so I think it should count as three modes of transport. I was going to say boat.

Actually, boat is more right than train! I meant the historic OE, but has it ever been to Britain, then?

The Venice Simplon Orient Express runs out of Platform 1 (Platforms 1 to 6 are the SouthEastern Chatham platforms) at London Victoria to Dover, and you get the ferry across the channel and continue on the continent.

See this video (watch all of the parts)
