Both have featured on Oasis covers - Cromford station on Some Might Say, and Mendips on, as greatkingrat hinted, Live Forever.

Correct - they're all sites of the War Of The Worlds adaptations.

I think today might be the 34th anniversary of the date that Matthias Rust flew this plane into Russia, confusing the Soviet authorities and landing it on a bridge in the centre of Moscow?

Apparently it undermined the reputation of the Soviet military.

(I think we're okay to publish answers in the main thread in this quiz - am I right? Apologies if I should have PMed it...)

Absolutely!
I've been going through the many digital photos I've taken over the years, came across this one and realised it was the anniversary.
If you're interested it is in the German Museum of Technology in Berlin.
