Re: Eurovision Song Contest 2015
Ah damn, I was going to do a poll about this.
How badly will the UK do?
Choose from one of the following:
- Last, scoring nul points.
- Last, picking off a few votes off Ireland and Malta out of sympathy.
- Bottom five. I'm an optimist.
- 11th-22nd. I think there are some countries that like this crap.
- Top ten. I picked the wrong option by mistake.
- Winner. I haven't heard the song yet.
The UK entry is here. Enjoy (you probably won't).

Re: Eurovision Song Contest 2015
I haven't listened to it, and nor will I until the final, as I usually do. But I predict bottom five, easily.

I've just heard a report on the radio that the BBC executive who originally came up with the term "Eurovision" was overruled by his boss, who wanted to call it "Continental Television Exchange". Fortunately his boss was ignored.

Re: Eurovision Song Contest 2015
Hmmm it's a bit of a marmite song IMO. Electric swing will at least have novelty value I suspect, and it hasn't got a memorable chorus, although the repeated "still in love with you" tagline could work.
Bottom five I reckon.
I'm taking part in an improvised version tonight, should be a real laugh

Re: Eurovision Song Contest 2015
Having listened to all the songs now (except for the automatic entries), I predict good results for Sweden, Latvia and Serbia tomorrow night. Sweden is the stand-out song for me.

RIght! As usual, I'm tuned into Radio 2 with no prior knowledge of any of the entries. It's the Eurovision Song Contest, dammit, and I wouldn't want to be distracted by any of the visuals. Here goes...

What a great song we've entered for once - easily the best so far. Why is everyone slagging it off?

Re: Eurovision Song Contest 2015
Well I'm just listening to the Austrian song, and it's about the first one that comes anywhere close to ours in terms of melody.
Have I got the concept of the "Eurovision Song Contest" wrong? Is it actually the "Eurovision Tunelessness Contest"? It seems to me that the songs tipped for success are the ones with no tune, and the ones written off as no-hopers are the ones that you can actually sing along to.
EDIT: Listened to the whole lot now, and haven't heard a single one that matches ours musically. In fact the interval music is better than most of the entries.

I really need to start putting money on the UK coming bottom five every year. I'd be minted by now ...

It really was dreadful IMO. Sweden is a good winner.
