Whole tube map challenge

I was wondering if anyone on here has considered doing the entire tube map, I.e. Tube, London Overground and DLR stations? Obviously it can't be done in a day, but I think it can be comfortably done in two. Any thoughts?

The idea's been kicked around a few times, I can't recall any attempts. Of course 24 hour running (from September) will make the total time shorter

Oh, easily doable. Given that the tube is a 1 day affair, LO is a 6 hour-ish affair (as we are going by the map, Battersea Park would be excluded), the DLR takes just over 2 hours and the EAL about 10 minutes, even sticking on a few hours to get between start and end points gives an easily possible challenge.

Thanks for the replies. Can anyone tell me what the deal is with Battersea Park? It is listed as a LO station yet doesn't appear on any maps as such. Even Kensington (Olympia) is shown as a District Line station and that doesn't run very often. Is BP going to be taken off LO?

Battersea Park is a station with a train service provided by London Overground. It is an important diversionary route as an alternative terminus to Clapham Junction, which can be used when the line is blocked, or if the train needs to make a quicker turnaround. Drivers need to maintain route knowledge, so I can't imagine its service will be withdrawn any time soon.

Do you know why it doesn't appear on any maps? Even if it shows as a 'special service only', surely it should be shown?

Check out this map which features on the National Rail site:

That's interesting. It's on that map but not the official TFL one. I wonder what their rationale for leaving it out is?

Showing a service that only runs once or twice a day would just confuse people. For the same reason, the few direct trains from Rickmansworth to Watford are not shown either.

Fair point!

Surely the hashed line wouldn't confuse people?

Well that was how I thought they'd do it. After all, it's not too different to Ken O albeit with even fewer trains.

I can't see a problem with the hashed line either, there's only a handful of Ken O trains

I think the rule is they only show services that are likely to actually be useful to people, not services that are only run for operational convenience.

If Olympia was only served by the six trains early in the morning, it probably wouldn't be on the tube map at all. It is only there because of the regular weekend services that run.

Ah true.
