Zone 1 2014 with Tangy

Post by tangy »

Just an early warning that the annual Zone 1 Challenge for 2014 is to be held on FRIDAY 30th MAY.

I will, again, be keeping everything in order. More details to follow nearer the time.

This is a Central line train to "Woodford via Hainault"- sadly, not no more!

This could be my first ever Z1, is this a daytime or evening event?

You should try one out before it happens! Out of all the challenges I've done, it has to be my second favourite (my favourite being the R15 of course!).

I'm turning up. I must defend my record!

As long as I can get home before 6pm I'll be there. Of course this may mean I have to miss the post challenge drinks, but hopefully not.

If I'm available for the day then I'll definitely do some trial runs. I've got some routes already pre-planned. Although I presume there'll be a fixed starting station?

Actually, before I can confirm my attendance, I must check my exam timetable ( :( ) [which is published in two weeks, I believe]!

My exam timetable came out a couple of days ago, and it clears me for the 30th. I do however have 8 exams from 10am til midday one after the other, which will be painful.

Ouch, fortunately I've only got 6 Uni exams, but I bet you I will have at least one on the 30th! Luckily the 31st is on a Saturday, which means I will have an exam free birthday :D

The date is deliberately chosen every year to fall within the school/college May half term holiday so that our younger Tube challengers can attend (though for us older ones it means taking a days leave from work)!

We meet up at 12:00 noon at specified meeting point whereby the BOZO (i.e. me) will draw the starting station at 12:15. We all head to that station, planning our routes, for a prompt 13:00 start from the station that was drawn out.

Full details, timetable and rules will be posted nearer the time (but will essentially follow the same pattern as last years event).

It's unfortunate that for the ones in-between, universities do not follow the half term rule

Unless like me, your regular day off is Friday!

I may get there, but no promises yet.

if were free and we are clear in exam wise then would it be ok if we join you guys (once we have checked the timetable and stuff first) and am i right it is the 30th of may?

All are welcome. For many people turning up randomly to a zone 1 day was their introduction to everything here.
