2869 is a centred icosahedral number. It's a bit hard to visualize, but imagine one sphere in the centre, surrounded by twelve spheres in the shape of a regular icosahedron, then another layer in the shape of an icosahedron where the edges are one longer, and so on until you've got nine layers (not counting the central sphere). That's 2869 spheres in total.
