Surely this thread will never run out of steam! Particularly when you come across something as interesting as The 2857 Society, engaged in the long term preservation of Great Western Railway heavy goods steam locomotive No. 2857, principally for active use on the Severn Valley Railway.

Didcot Railway Centre's 4709 Project used No. 2861 as a parts donor, and it is seen here, seemingly after the 'donation', in Barry Scrapyard.

2865 Laurel - named after the film comedian Stan Laurel - is a stony Marian asteroid from the middle region of the asteroid belt, approximately 15 kilometres in diameter. See if you can guess who asteroid 2866 is named after!

2869 is a centred icosahedral number. It's a bit hard to visualize, but imagine one sphere in the centre, surrounded by twelve spheres in the shape of a regular icosahedron, then another layer in the shape of an icosahedron where the edges are one longer, and so on until you've got nine layers (not counting the central sphere). That's 2869 spheres in total.
