Does it go via Berney Arms?
Held some Alternative Challenge records for a long time.
Doesn't any more.

We're going to run out of questions. Some of the questions haven been way too detailed to narrow it down quickly.

With 2 questions left you have a fairly good chance of getting it!

I don't know enough about services in that area. It could be a train that runs between Norwich and Great Yarmouth. By asking if the train "calls" at either of these two stations and getting a "yes" in response, this creates an ambiguity. If the train starts at either of these stations then it does NOT "call" there.

I think you're being too picky. I regard starting and/or finishing at a station calling there. When you're on a train, the last station on the list of called stations is always where it terminates. As for starting, the train has to call there, else passengers can't get on. The train may or may not have been in passenger service when it called there.

Ah, I'd previously still been working on assumptions of Northern or Merseyrail... will try better now.

Does your train leave its origin station at 36 minutes past the hour?

As Berney Arms has a very limited service, and we already know it runs between 0000-1159, I think there is only one possible service that meets all the clues.

So you must be on the 0736 Norwich - Great Yarmouth!

I suppose I can be a bit picky. I mean, "does it go VIA Berney Arms?" is not the same as "does it CALL at Berney Arms?"

Berney Arms is a request stop, is it not? If no one is there, it won't call there. Am I right?

it'll still be booked to call and have time built into the timetable for stopping there!! Anyway, what does it matter? It's been established what damn train you are on

I suspect this type of quiz will only work with "unique" train services. I mean, if the answer is "the 15.30 Euston to Glasgow" (to make up an example), we'll never get it in 20 questions. Whereas that stupid Stalybridge to Stockport train would be ideal, if we could pinpoint the area first.
