I've been offered an interview at Newcastle University for their PGCE course, and need to sort out train travel up there and back.

Can anyone suggest the best way to structure/break up the journey so I can get the cheapest fares?

I guess it rather depends on when you are travelling and how far in advance you are booking. I assume you have a YP railcard?
